Who owns the media?
If some things are difficult to understand, just follow the money.

Lessfatman says:
What America hates most is complexity.
Just look at how many films are made of losers and you realize that Americans love losers because they can help them feel superior. As long as it is made very, very clear that this film is NOT about you but somebody else who is a loser.
(We just make fun of you while taking your money but that's beside the point)

Ha-ha-ha.

ABSOLUTELY TRUE - EVERY TIME!

Follow the money, and who gains?

It certainly isn't the 'losers' who supposedly cause us all the problems there are in this world? When in point of fact they are simply the fall guys/the patsies. imo

Ha-ha-ha.' Well, as long as you're laughing hey?! I really don't know. Americans are like everybody else, there are good, bad and indifferent ones, pretty much the same as British people I have met. Some of the best movies have come out of America; and some of the worst too.

You are right. Making generalizations about nearly 300 million people is silly.
I was thinking about the media when I wrote my message.
Good guys are good, bad guys are bad and often ugly as well and they drive German automobiles. Good guys used to drive Volvo station wagons but that's changed now.

Product placement is important.
American media is about selling stuff and emotions.
I have not seen the same thing with the British but that's because I only get BBC World Service.
It is hypnotic. So dependence, no side effects and you sleep like a baby!

Yes, I know you were not making generalisations my friend! :~) Yes, product placement is also slowly creeping into British TV; half hour long infomercials fronted usually by two perfect specimens with perfect teeth rattling on about some such wonderful thing 'that will change your life' and etc ad nauseum! Yes I agree, Americans seem to be more susceptible to the hard sell, the emotional angle, whereas Brits are less inclined to be sold products or politics or anything else in this way. Ah, I've never seen the BBC World Service, but I suspect it is not really representative of British society as it really is, and it is for the rest of the world not us Brits! ;~)
