N.,

<<there's so much more beyond Britain and it's austerity>>.

This is emotive claptrap. Most people in Britain are living a lot better than 90% of those on the rest of the planet. Now where, apart from Venezuela, Cuba and NK have I said that I wouldn't want to live?

Where have I run down life in other parts of the globe?

Where have I said UKey is the 'best'?

You make it up N.

N.,

<<...you should let your fellow citizens, if you ever admit them to be so, dream and experience it>>

Are you crying...you appear to have gone all hysterical, more so than ever, and are making up things about me that you have no evidence of. I don't want to stop fellow UKey folk doing any dreaming they want N. They can do what they like so long as they don't harm others.

N.,

<<Today, the values of the old dart (sic) low, shrunken and miserly. At least publicly>>.

What on earth does this mean? You could be listening to too much Labour Party propaganda.

<<Let's face it>> N. you post a load of drivel, mostly.

N. Rice says:
You're good at making my point for me.
Yes I've strayed from the facts, but I believe what I've expatiated on is what's at the heart of this discussion. The UK establishment is deeply corrupt. Several pillars of the system have been exposed or collapsed through rottenness: Parliament (eg MPs' expenses scandal, Andy Coulson), the Media (eg News of the World), the Police force (Operation Elveden), and most of all Banking / the City (ongoing scandals!). It's been caused by the distortion of massive power and wealth being concentrated in the hands of the 1%. That's where capitalism takes you unchecked.
The whole merry-go-round of bread, circuses and fear makes me sick. Similarly in China the people are kept quiet. In Venezuela, the people have won a revolution. Chavez broke a spiral of misery that his country had suffered for a century and more.

This response demonstrates how deluded you are. The picture you paint of Britain is your rabid fantasy. You write like you're suffering some sort of mental breakdown. Get out now. Venezuela needs you.

Btw wherever have I said that Britain is wonderful, perfect?

We are discussing what Chavez did for Venezuela.

If you want to debate the state Britain's in why not start a thread on it and I'll join in.

What Chavez did for Venezuela was to use some of the oil revenues to improve school and medical services...and to employ Chavistas in the jobs he created in businesses he nationalised. GDP per capita was higher because oil revs were higher. On almost every other measure the poor were no better off under him. Take oil out of the reckoning and the economy deteriorated under Chavez.

I had nothing against Chavez. I don't deny the right of his supporters to laud him.
