Simone,

Did you check before posting?

If not why not?

If you did, why not answer your question?

Oh, and what's your point?

Dear Teddy....the fount has observed a continuing debate about 'the economy'.

This debate involves different 'points of view'.

So....I have no idea, do you?

Are you going bonkers? If you want to start a debate about the economy how does this thread title followed by <<?>> help?

Posted on 17 Mar 2013 12:32:52 GMT
The answer is 1694. That's when the Bank of England began and we started government borrowing.

In reply to an earlier post on 17 Mar 2013 12:48:09 GMT
Simone, 1694 says Matt, your question answered. Not an UAQ. End of thread.

Funtoy, And for your next pointless thread...

In reply to an earlier post on 17 Mar 2013 15:49:40 GMT
Beloved..do you agree with Matt?

In reply to an earlier post on 17 Mar 2013 15:52:22 GMT
No idea.

This indicates Matt may be onto something:

http://www.ukpublicspending.co.uk/uk_national_debt_chart.html

Come to think of it, I remember learning in history at school something like: the B of E was founded to finance wars in C18 by selling gov debt.

Ooooooohhhhhh....so.....oooooohhhhhh....so.....
....ooooooohhhh.....who founded the bank?......

In reply to an earlier post on 17 Mar 2013 17:28:43 GMT
What's this got to do with your original question?

If you want to know, look it up dearie.

In reply to an earlier post on 17 Mar 2013 17:30:57 GMT

Beloved....no I missed it....why such strong language?

Posted on 17 Mar 2013 19:44:48 GMT
Well, of course most of us are in debt, unless we're still living with Mum and Dad. I think it's already been said that austerity isn't the only way out of the crisis, although it makes sense to tighten one's belt to start.

Pity. I like strong language. Strong to indicate I think you were spouting out of your bum...much quicker than wasting time with a long reasoned reply.

Ooh er, the leftie Beeb is doing groveling progs about The Royals and their corgis . The telly's always on in our house...burbling away to itself. Mrs has just turned off my Barcelona and I keep getting wafts of 'Queen at Balmoral', Charles on 'Country File'. Now there's a 'Behind the Scenes Look at The Queen During Lovely Jubbly Year. As a proven <<right winger>> according to Funty's own certified research, I'm going to enjoy this...will we see her taking a behind the scenes right royal dump?

Interesting point. Does the total sum of debt exceed the total sum of credit and who holds it?
