Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new camera and want to upgrade to a cs/ micro 3 4 camera. I travel a lot, and while my old Samsung point and shoot has been really good, it's on its last legs and my burgeoning interest in photography is pushing me to take the leap into better kit. I travel a lot and tend to photograph a variety of subjects; landscapes, architecture, people and food mainly.

My budget is GBP500, and at the moment I am leaning towards getting Panasonic Lumix GF3 with the standard 14-42mm lens, then purchasing wide angle and macro lens adapters (from the Panasonic UK website where they are marginally cheaper) which would just about bring me in under budget. The question is, is this a decent plan, and if not, what would you suggest I do?

All suggestions gratefully appreciated.

You can pick up a Panasonic GF5 with the compact power zoom 14-42mm for 250. You might need to do a Google search to find it though. The camera is practically pocketable with that lens so would be ideal for travel. I know a few people who have bought that combo and have been very happy. If you want to stretch your budget a bit more you can get the Panasonic GX1 with the 14-42mm power zoom for 350 - this is an excellent camera and is a significant step up from the GF5. Again, this solution is fairly compact and pocketable.
