Panasonic DMC-TZ30EB-K Compact Camera - Black (14.1MP, 20x Optical Zoom) 3 inch LCD

I have just taken delivery of the above camera today, and simply cannot get it to take a decent photo outside. I am a point and shoot photographer, but what I am seeing on the lcd display is not what I am getting, inside they are reasonable, outside they are far too light. Since I am using the iA mode, all adjustments should be automatic.

I wanted the camera simply for the decent zoom, but it will be on its way back to Amazon tomorrow if I can't solve this

Any help appreciated, but not too technical please

I would like to add that in recording mode, the picture is perfect, true colour. This makes me think that the camera is faulty

G. E. Hearn says:
Have you inadvertantly knocked the exposure compensation control? I don't know your camera, or even whether it has an exp. comp button, but it would be worth maybe doing a "Restore factory settings" reset and try again.

no, it doesn't seem to have one of those

Oh well. We may have to wait for a Panasonic user to stumble across this thread in that case. Worth a try anyway.

Have you tried some of the other exposure modes? Maybe that would tell whether the meter is shot?
Intelligent Auto sounds too good to be true.

A. Morgan says:
I hadn't tried the other modes, but have now, I got the same light picture on all of them except Manual Exposure mode, which gave me a perfect picture. I then experimented with different shots with all the modes, went back to iA and that then gave me a perfect picture, and now they all seem to work. I will give it a very good test tomorrow and hope it passes because I really don't want the hassle of replacing it. Thanks you all for your input

Hi AM,
How strange. Keep testing - you don't want to buy a pup.

just a quick update, after consulting Panasonic, and sending them sample snaps, they tell me the camera is faulty so I will be returning it
