Has anyone please come across a waterproof dog coat (size small) with a slit in the back for a harness. I have seen the harness coats, but would prefer to keep my little dog on her own harness that she is used to ... and you must be able to get dog coats with a hole in them for a harness, it's just none of the descriptions seem to list them :/ Help please!
Thanks :)

I found a coat from 3 Peaks that is thin enough for the harness to go over but is still waterproof and fleece lined, this may be something to look into.

Don't know if its what you are looking for but try searching on amazon for: buster outdoor wear jacket, I think it has a 2 way type zip for either using with a collar or harness underneath, they also do a rain type jacket with less lining or a softshell material version hope this helps.

Yes I have, see link below for a fleece lined waterproof dog coat which can be used with your own harness.

I've bought a couple from Pets at Home with a slit for lead attachjment. Also look on Ebay. Most of the Pets at Home coats are designed like this.

Hi, just got a coat for our beagle. An ancol stormguard and this has a slit at the top of the neck for a lead or to clip onto a harness. We got ours from EBay as it was a bit cheaper from there.

Hello, by now I am sure you have solved the problem, but if not, here is what you could try. Buy a coat that you like and then get a bigger harness that will fit over it, but is easily adaptable if there is a removable fleece lining so you can adjust to fit. Have not yet tried it ourselves, so there may be problems we have not thought of, we were looking for some coats for our son and daughter in laws puppy, and found the same problem.

hi there is a danish designs 3 in 1 coat with a liner and waterproof outer that detach from one another - this has a slit at the back of the neck for a leader - not sure if it would be far enough back for a harness but may be worth a look they go as small as a 10 inch size in different colours

Countrymun.com make a quickie waterproof coat which is designed to fit in your pocket. They are lightweight so harness may well fit on top?

I have a medium sized chihuahua and wanted a really warm waterproof coat so bought one, without the harness slit, and got a friend to make a button hole in the place were the D ring would pull through and now my chi has a beautiful coat and can wear it over her regular harness, job done!

I've got 2 harnesses for my shih-tzu.. One adjusted to fit without coat, the other adjusted to fit over her coat.. Though she has a thinner coat with hole for harness, I'd prefer coat with no hole and larger harness over the top.

Hi there...........I have two Bichons who have harnesses and have had the same problem. However, I have found that it is possible to put the harnesses on top of the coat, rather than underneath it, and all seems fine. Harness can get a little wet in the chest area but it is easy to dry. I use Ferplast Ergocomfort harnesses.
