A River in the Sky (Amelia Peabody)

I have just found out that 2 of the books in this series are set back in time. Do I slot them in to chronological order or read them in the order they were published?
I don't want to get any spoliers!

Start with Crocodile on the Sandbank, then The Curse of the Pharaohs, then The Mummy Case, then The Deeds of the Disturber, then The Last Camel Died at Noon and so on. A River in the Sky is the most recent one to be published but it comes about half way through the series, so best to slot it in chronologically.

I disagree - I think that you should read them in the order that they were written but I don't really think it matters.

See www.fantasticfiction.co.uk for the order. Great site

if you enjoy the Amelia Peabody series, you might also like the Meredith Pink series by Fiona Deal. It's set in modern day Egypt, but sets out to solve ancient Egyptian mysteries. Great fun to read, escapist but grounded in historical fact. There are three books so far. Rather less than the 18 in the Amelia series. I also enjoyed the Vicky Bliss series of Elizabeth Peters books, the last two of which are set in Egypt.
