Walking on the wild side to the second track of this round and we sidle up to Lez Lee's nomination: former Pickwick Records in-house songwriter, member of The Primitives and Velvet Underground before embarking on a solo career leading to major recognition in his own right and collaborations with other major artists both old and new...singer, songwriter and musician...Lou Reed.

Please choose your favourite track from the immense back catalogue of this iconic musician.

Don't forget to include a youtube link to your favourite track and have those noms in by 10:00 on Friday night.

Haven't nommed an artist for this round yet? Off to here then and do so:

Is there some reason we're jumping on to Lou Reed when voting hasn't closed yet for Lee "Scratch" Perry? I only ask because at a very busy time of year I voted on Monday night for the best song of 2013, on Tuesday night for the festive carol-type song, and was planning on listening to Lee tonight. Is there a breather planned or are we plowing ahead? Happy to go with whatever Al decides as he's the one doing all the hard yakka. I was just surprised, that's all.

Val - my thoughts exactly. I think the last 2 or 3 'artists' ones have been overlapping for some reason?
I'm not personally busy but know others are ;-)

Overlapping votes and noms have been going for quite a few artists now, and I agree with Spacepig that it gives folk longer to choose their nominations (hopefully minimising the number of 'oh sorry' posts) and it means we're getting a bit more flexibility as we are not sorting 2 threads (end vote/start nom) at the same time. The time for nominations hasn't shortened, it's longer. If this was started today it still wouldn't end until Friday at the same time...so what's the difference? Opening nominations a few hours earlier doesn't mean do it immediately.

Both Song of 2013 and festive poll opened Sunday and both close Wednesday night - no posts on there making mention of the time clash. This old thing has been chugging along whatever....but generally the timetable (especially the end time) remains the same! :-)

The intention is to run Lou Reed voting from Friday evening to Xmas Eve, giving an extra day for those who need it. The next nomination will be posted the same day but will run through to the Sunday evening (it's Brass's this, that and something else....but not them nomination - will take me a while to fit it all in). Voting from Sunday to Thursday 2nd January. Plenty of time for both artists, and gives a bolt-hole from the family or the fall out from 'Brussels'!

Hi Jemma...always aim to please, perhaps I should aim higher! Glad you liked the N/Soul list, not all household names but more than a few to keep your foot tapping. I'll keep my eyes open for anything else you might like.

BTW, not only you girlys are on kitchen duty over Christmas you know...up to the elbows in turkey gizzards is not just your domain! Speaking of which...a cozinha chama ... quem disse que o meu nome?

É sempre um prazer meu amiga. Tome cuidado em tudo que você faz!

Ahh! I like the sound of that, of course the kitchen is a man`s domain as well. I hope you don`t get harassed while you are about your duties :@}
Oddly enough I knew 2 of the tracks but I`m going back to the 80`s when I was a wee girl but once I had heard them the ol` memory kicked in. My bruv played soul quite a lot.
Agradeço-lhe e mesmo de volta para você. ;o)

I`ll post before xmas, take care.
