As we near the end of the round, we meet RedAlFire's latest nomination for the greatest artists, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend, Mr Bobby Womack.

Billions of songs out there to pick from so we are expecting some real stomping nominations.

Don't forget to include a youtube link to your favourite track and have those noms in by 10:00 on Friday night.

Haven't nommed an artist for the next round yet? Off to here then and do so:

For RedAlFire then, the best of Bobby Womack if you please......

1973 Soul Train appearance - git down wit' some baaad threads brother! I've tried to copy this URL at the point at which the music starts, if not then it's about 5 minutes in after an interview with the man himself.

Great choice Al. One of my best concerts of 2013 - Bobby's still got it. I've just listened to half a dozen clips and could have chosen any of them but will go with one of his classics:

Across 110th Street
It's All Over Now

4 excellent choices already, now that's good to see. Thanks Val, oh yes he still has that great voice and immense musical expertise. :-)

Hi Space, now back from my travels for a while I'm reporting back for duty so please tell me when you'd like me to take over the reins. Would you like me to start back in with this one? No problem if you do, ready and able to continue over the Christmas period and into 2014 to give you some time for your own things. :-)

However, as a result of the last minute attempts to furnish Supertramp videos last month, I'll not be able to do youtube playlists for the next 6 months so will need to call in help on that. :-(

Hi Al, if you could help out from now for a while that would be great. As you seen from The Stones thread, time isn't my greatest friend right now. I'll be happy to step back in shortly after Christmas, and whenever I notice a playlist is missing I will jump in and knock one together.
Apart from that I will be missing from the site for a few weeks so everyone have a great time.

Bobby is a new one for me (love soul music) but I managed to get a possible 12 noms. Pity it`s only one nom each. Perhaps after xmas/new year we could have a soul only thread. How about it Alan? :o)

Space....it'll be in safe hands! Now, apart from playlists and noms/votes go do what you need to and come back on this side sometime next year...!?!?!? :-)

Hi Jemma. You've hit on something I'm already cogitating over - hopefully there'll be something in place once the festives are behind us. Hope all good with you my friend...always admire your enthusiasm on these threads (a positive trait that many others happily share). Up2 may be the place for a soul discussion, got problems with youtube at present (oops) so no more posts there for 6 months, but finding loads of soul stuff - both old and new - presently. :-)

Travel Fan says:
Yep! I`m fine thanks Alan. Ditto. :o} That`s great then (soul) looking forward to that (I like a bit of cogitating myself) I think it will do well. I was sorely tempted to change my G/C nom for Slade and keep in tune with the glam rock era, but now you`re in charge I thought I better not misbehave and just bide my time, maybe next round eh? :o)

As John McEnroe famously said. YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS. Stick with your crappy pop music man. Rubbish, OK, rubbish, brilliant, OK, pointless ( too close to a much better record by the Temps ), what??, brilliant.

It does seem apt that a guy remembered more as a loser than a winner has been quoted in the above post, who rattled Scrooge's cage?

Val H. says:
Oh wow! So Across 110th Street is only OK????? And The Bravest Man In The Universe is rubbish????? Where does he get off telling us the definitive standing of these songs?

Steve and I have been anointed by the great one himself, our choices are "brilliant" in the eyes of the one true believer. You have been warned folks! If Steve and I don't win this round, Mr Tulip will be round to find out why!

Well thank goodness I've not nominated yet! :-)

I now know that S R stands for speaks rubbish and that he has mistaken this thread for one in his fantasy world about Bobby WoeMcEnroe! Zon life is indeed a rich learning curve...

Every one of those trax is a winner in my book, Val.

Should really dig out my copy of 'Bravest Man in the Universe' again to give it a fair hearing.

Blastro...this guy's released around 85 studio albums over the years. Most famous was probably The Poet and Poet II but there are literally hundreds of songs from this man, many his own but also many (IMO) fine covers.

He did the vocals on Wilton Felder's Inherit The Wind....
