EDIT - 18 FEB 2013 - 20:00 hrs (ish) - PLEASE READ THIS

* * * * IMPORTANT UPDATE * * * *

Once a new date has been agreed - a new thread will be created to keep everyone updated.

After yesterday's PPU at The Windsor Castle, it was agreed that - if Mark Kibble can't make it to a PPU - then we'll take a PPU to him.

Tommo and I had a quick chat earlier this evening and we suggested that we need to set a date in stone so that we can arrange holidays / travel etc. in order to enjoy an alternative PPU venue to The Windsor Castle (and The Schooner Inn in Fowey).

After the York PPU a couple of years ago, Mark and I enjoyed an 'eye boggling' couple of drinks together at The Vic in Coalville (as per post code in title) - accompanied by a Bon Jovi tribute duo. What a grate pub (a number of real ales on tap) and an 'audience' that were so friendly - they could all have been PPUers.

So - 11 May 2013 - The Vic (Bikers' Pub) Coalville, Leicestershire is the venue for the next PPU.

As Tommo and I discussed earlier this evening, I know that this is ths day after two people's 63rd birthdays (Hazel - my wife being one and I won't name the other PPUer who shares the same birth date as Hazel {There you go Cornish - saved you the embarrassment of naming you} - but it could make a good birthday party weekend for a couple of us as well as being (potentially) a PPU to lift the bar on following PPUs.

Lots of notice. All the right reasons. Who's up for it ?

I know that I'll be collecting Wharfy on my way up (rude not to as I almost drive past his front door on my journey to Leicestershire), Tommo and Laila have already signed up and I know that MC and Teresa will be there if they can. Schiz will almost certainly be there (don't expect a compilation album from him though) AND THAT'S JUST FOR STARTERS.

Roll up, roll up - all welcome.

Would have loved to have been to PPU in London this weekend but evil car tax and MOT ate all my money but Coalville looks really good. Will try to to make this one.

Just a suggestion guys....

Lez, if your able to, how about holding one of your famous PPU coffee mornings/ afternoons in Scotland on the 11th and raise a cup to MK that way???....Even if its for an hour...

Cornish, Foe and anyone else who cant make it from deepest South, if your up for it, a few of you meet in a pub and raise a glass to MK down your end...Even if its for an hour...

We have middle England covered in Coalville.....

Wouldn't that be unprecedented PPU history???...3 events in one day, running through bottom middle and the top of the UK???.....

Again, it's just a suggestion.

I used to go clubbing in Coalville sometimes (Passion). No need to thank me for that fascinating little gem.

Bolleaux, I'm (hopefully) going to be in Greece from around 7th to 21st May.
Any other dates considered?

Seeing as this is for MK and with so many big hitters not being able to make it on the 11th, i personally think that it's a no brainer that the date should be moved, to accommodate as many old faces as possible.....Currently getting Greysuit's answerphone, will get back to you shortly.

Ah! you've been there aswell?

Went there with the wife, (thank god) for a weekend, & naively stayed in Kemptown.

The hotel room was completely mirrored, & there was a suspicious stain on the bedcover.

Had a good time though, & even thought of going in The Bulldog Club, (Open from Friday night, straight through until Monday morning) but the doorman put us off by saying, we could only come in if we were very broadminded. We decided that we weren't, & went to a

I remember going into a hotel in New York to see whether it had any rooms available. I was surprised when I was handed a key to go and look at the room before booking it. As I ascended the stairs I very quickly twigged (no flies on me, ahem) that it was a hotel in which one booked rooms by the hour rather than the night. I stayed at the YMCA instead: much like I imagine being in prison but slightly less noisy than the flop-house.

Believe me, I was only a few dollars away from sleeping in Central Park. I ended up with just enough left to get me to the airport (where my flight was delayed by 9 hours). This trip was done on a particularly stringy shoestring. And I don't think I've ever eaten meatloaf again since the extraordinarily unappetising version I was served in the cheapest diner I could find. It's surprising how unexciting it is at the time to be in your own version of a Tom Waits song.

Oh, and it was raining. And I had a hole in my shoe. If only I'd been on the trail of a missing person the picture would have been complete.

Sorry. None of this has anything to do with Coalville. Why can't I click "No" on my own posts, Amazon?

I spoke to Grey a while ago saying that I would do my best to make a meet near MK. Unable to commit to anything yet though as although I am due to be working the whole of the weekend of 11th May, anything could happen at the moment: rota changed; unable to get time off; will my job have disappeared before then!

Fix the date and I'll see what I can do - best I can say for now.

Sorry about my new phone - it doesn't seem to like holding on to electricity and discharges itself in less than half the time of my old one. (NO Double Entendres intended).

How about bringing it forward 1 week to 'Star Wars Day' ?

Otherwise - it looks like it might be pushed back into June.

A quick yes or no here to agree to allow May The 4th be with you and I'll dump this thread and start a new one to avoid any risk of doubling up in May.
