Does anyone know the name of the album this song by The Spinners was on? And whether the title was "A fox went out one chilly night" or something else?

Martin says:
Would that be The Detroit Spinners or the folk group?

Posted on 15 Nov 2012 11:24:10 GMT
It's a folk song alright but I don't know the Spinners work well enough to identify the album if they have recorded it.

Michelle says:
Not the Detroit Spinners. The folk group The Spinners. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spinners_(UK_band) I think we had the album years ok on LP or cassette but can't remember the name of it. Looking at some albums on Amazon they don't list what songs were on them so no help!!

Are you sure it's not by Mr Fox?

Wiki doesn't mention The Spinners version, but I'm pretty sure this is song you mean, M.

Dan Fante and nocheese, that's the one, thank you!! All I have to do now is track down a copy of the album. Thanks so much!!!

nocheese says:
Plenty of copies of the LP available here on Amazon, also on ebay, and other places. It looks as if it isn't available as a CD, though.

Dan Fante says:
Discogs is great for this sort of thing for future reference. I use it all the time if there's no tracklisting on Amazon.

Michelle says:
nochees - Yes, there isn't an CD's of it. Probably was never recorded as a CD. I shall have to keep searching.

Dan Fante- thanks for the great link. I have bookmarked it

Thanks everyone for your help.

A fox went out one chilly night
To catch himself a hen
The wind was freezing his bollocks off
So he went back to his den
