2012 saw the second Fowey 'Deadhead PPU' which - amazingly - actually lasted two days.

We are trying to top that next year by booking all 7 rooms at The Galleon hotel for a full three nights.

The Galleon offers 3 nights for the price of 2 in October so - for those of us that have to travel - that's a good start. Even better their rooms are only £40.00 per night for single occupancy and for a sea view there is a slight uplift to that price.

In order to 'take the hotel over' - and book it up, we need to start thinking about dates.

How about the nights of Tuesday 1 Oct to Thursday 3 Oct inclusive as a first attempt ?

Failing that, the nights of Tuesday 8, Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 are an alternative.

Please check your diaries (etc.) and post here when you would like the event to take place. A simple majority will do - and don't be put off by the 'Deadhead' title of this thread. Yes - of course - the GOGD are discussed - but as with any social gathering - a bucket full of other general rubbish also gets aired.

Either's fine for me.

I know it's a long time away but just a thought - if we book the whole place, that will include rooms with a sea view. As these will cost a bit more perhaps we could split the extra cost between us?

Thanks Lez - that's 3 rooms then. You, Wharfy and me. As for transport - I'll confirm details later - but I'll be happy to run a bit of a taxi service on the Tuesday - and the Friday - to get public transport travellers to and from Fowey.

Just seen your edit Lez - I'm hoping to give The Galleon the opportunity to discount those two rooms for the sake of a block booking.

As discussed at last Saturday's PPU in London, I've not had the chance to speak to the Galleon yet but will be doing so sometime this week.

As soon as I have dates, I will update the thread - but at least this brings it back up towards the top again.

I'm shure that Mondo will come,so thats four rooms already booked, good on
yer Lez,don't forget to book the train to Par! as its only 6miles to Fowey. If
the Viking takeover is complete it will have to be a three day PPU...will have to
organise a quiz night and a bridge night!!!!...cream teas on the terrace anybody!

Lez Lee says:
As I mentioned on Saturday, the earliest I could be there (if no train delays) would be about 6.30pm and I would be knackered anyway. So I'm thinking of travelling down on the Monday to give me a full 3 days and making a proper holiday of it. I've not had a hol for over 15 years so it'll be a real treat.

Mondo Ray says:
Yes, I'm there whatever dates are chosen, include me in the bookings. I'll also prepare a famous Quizmaster Ray special for one of the evenings.

For some reason I don't believe you, Wharfy! With any luck we'll be the only emmets in October.
I just want to go to the seaside, not been to the coast for 4 years.

Just try not to fall in the water:-)

We should be there, with the dog, but not staying at the pub. We'll be hunting for somewhere with a garden to stay within striking distance of Fowey as we did last year.

Nice but probably not dog friendly, Lez.

Yes, it is! Mind you, at that price they should supply a luxury kennel.

Come to Cornwall where the whinging self-pitying locals will treat me with contempt as an "emmet" personally responsible for their economic plight (house prices high, wages low), and wherethey elect a politician who thinks disabled kids should be put down? No, ta!

....perhaps a little more understanding of the actual Cornish people
living in Cornwall might change your conceptions.
