This is what nephran, das and all the other little clan followers think about the music forum regulars.

posted at 01.24:55 1st May by 'little ol' meses' :

''I know a lot of the Old guard got well annoyed when us new lot came along and took over the forum..Let them have their little corner to cry in..This is much better now.. ''

Also this by the same person at 01.52:58

''Sorry NON..The last Year as seen a lot of new blood on this forum...The old guard don't like it cause we don't talk a lot about music..That's what i meant,so they occassionally make snidey remarks about how they don't participate anymore..And that they communicate in private e-mails.. ''

i'd presume that the poster had his tongue planted in his cheek when he typed that SSK (it's not as if people can't read it) or was just tired (01.52.58)
can't say i've noticed a hostile takeover and if the old guard (whoever they be) aren't contributing as regularly maybe it's because the threads don't grab them or they're experiencing the Groundhog Day feeling that they've read them all before.
how quickly will the new kids on the block become the old guard ???
as Mary Chapin Carpenter says "the more things change the more they remain the same"

Everything changes Huck...When the people that have grown up listening to music on mp3 only, decide that they wan't to take part in this forum then we will have to adapt again..Change is unavoidable on forums..

The Daily Mail lives. Or whatever ya call that garbage that quit printing.

Huck Flynn - Suppose you're right, old farts in stalemate running over the same old ground... :)

Smitty - Well at least you'd dignify a newbe with an answer if they spoke directly to you. As for 'old guard' you can try your best to be but constantly getting into new bands (Hawkwind, Can, Metallica etc, etc) and always digging into your collection for others....

Not that i care about backing you right not to care.
In fact i couldn't care less.....Well there are things i care less about, but i don't care to think about them in these careless times.

Take care.

Nugent Dirt says:
Whatever the case it seems to me the MF's coming to the end of the line. It's run dry of topics as I think we've said all that can be said about music and now it's never ending polls and lists.

In reply to an earlier post on 1 May 2012 15:41:04 BDT
Spacepig says:
I disagree Nuge. Provided we can always attract new postee's, the MF will continue. And if takes voting games to attract them, then so be it. Over the last few months we have seen some new names come along, and if they can branch out from the voting games into other posts then I am sure this forum can keep going for the forseeable future.

As for old topics being dug up - well, the newer postees won't have covered that ground already. If you have, then why not offer your own opinions on the subject? I have found the voting posts very useful (but expensive) myself for finding new music, especially the dance/electronica one and I am sure others have found the same. if new people can come along and offer suggestions we haven't thought of, then I am all for that. Now I am off to see if Marc53 (another new name to me) has offered up any more suggestions on the obscure bands thread, I suggest you do the same.

In reply to an earlier post on 1 May 2012 16:00:42 BDT
NemOmeN says:
But there are almost as many things to say about music as there are bands and people that listen to them. People have their own views on what and why they like (or don't) the same things.

It will run out of topics and views if it's always the same people talking and it is always going to be the same people talking if new people aren't welcomed.

And this is a very unwelcoming place to be for new people, mostly a cold shoulder is all ya get. People that have been here a long time maybe don't notice cuz they already have their pals to banter with.

Just check the 'Songs begining with A noms' yesterday, Coincidence Vs Fate, a new person that didn't understand the rules put songs up, did anyone help out? Did they f***, a new person, ignore them hopefully they go away.

The MFs have become a bit boring; it's all lists and 'word'. What is needed is a good scrap. How to start one? Howsabout 'Who've you got on ignore and why?'
