From Dragonlord's inception this thread has run it's happy course, (with a little assistance from yours truly, then the enthusiastic verve of Spacepig and presently yours truly again - plus the important help of those who have stood in when necessary) to reach it's double century. Thanks to all those who have taken the time to nominate (both for artists and music titles) and vote it has done pretty well for itself along the way and I rather think that is something we should all be right proud of.
I had hoped that Spacepig would have been around more as we approached 200 but it seems that the things keeping him busy have continued into this year. Hopefully we'll see him back on here soon but for now Spacepig, very many thanks from us all for helping us get to 200, and thanks to Dragonlord for starting the whole thing off!!
Moving on, we remain in the United States of America but travel to Gert Town, New Orleans, the birthplace of our eleventh Artist in this round, and more importantly the 200th nominated artist for the Music Forum Fave Artist(s). This guy is a musician, composer, record producer and general smart alec (or is that Allen)....a man who has composed, performed and produced music, for and with, some of the absolute greats in world music. There's not many quality acts that haven't, somewhere along the line, laid down a track by our number 200 - Allen Toussaint - nominated by T. Franklin.
He got his big break at 17 in Earl King's band, standing in for Huey Smith, after which he got a few introductions under his belt and settled down to pen some of the major R&B hits of the sixties for the likes of Irma Franklin, Lee Dorsey, Aaron Neville, Otis Redding, the list goes on and on. The 70's brought a more funky style to his work with The Meters, Dr John, Sandy Denny, Robert Palmer, John Mayall and Boz Scaggs being a few benefitting from his prowess. He has continued through the decades after to be prominent in his field collaborating with Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney as well as increasing his songbook.
Tim has shown solo works and collaborations in his header and he has indicated that titles accredited to The Meters are certainly acceptable. No doubt he can advise on any further decisions on qualification should the need arise.

Don't forget to include a youtube link to your favourite track and have those noms in by 10:00 pm on Monday night (10th February).
After hearing the requests for more votes, please note that voting will, after the first ten nominations, increase by one after each 5 further songs added - 3-10 nominations will be 3-2-1; 11-15 will be 4-3-2-1; 16-20 will be 5-4-3-2-1 and so on. Hope everyone will be happy with this, if not please suggest an alternative for consideration.
Haven't nommed an artist for this round yet? Off to here then and do so:
And can I again ask that someone take the responsibility to do a playlist, please?
Please post the best of Allen Toussaint below...
