Started with Bowie's return, and ended with Lou Reed's sad departure.
JJ Cale, John Tavener, seemed like a lot of deaths this year.
Albums of the year ? Matthew E White ?
Dylan in England. Gravity the movie....

what were the high and low lights, the end of the year special summary thread starts right here...

As my listening preferences are mainly in the stoner/hard rock/ alternative genres well then 2013 has been unbelievable. Clutch, Spiritual Beggars, Alice In Chains, Red Fang, Monster Magnet, and Orchid were the big names to release albums but there have been so many others in these fields who have put out stunning albums. So for me 2013 has been one of the best years for music for a long time, not so kind on my wallet though.

Unlike many I don't sit avidly waiting for new releases. I listen to stuff as and when it gets to me (not a radio fan either) so whatever I've heard this year could be from anytime. But it has mostly been really quite good though! :-)

As far as i'm concerned, the new releases from NIN, Motorhead, Sabbath and Alice in Chains saved a very quiet and indifferent year from my angle...................

A great year for Dead fan and re-issues IMO.
Sunshine Daydream (Veneta, Or, 8/27/72)
Garcia Live Volume 3 (December 14-15, 1974) Northwest Tour
Honorable mentions:
I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die
Live Poznan
Recent Releases:
1970-1987 (Album Box Set)
The Studio Albums, 1969-1987

The continual flood of anti-music & rap ;-((((()

The highs
New albums from Steven Wilson and Pearl Jam as well as mighty fine releases from QotSA, Alice In Chains and Black Sabbath. I'm also hopeful that I will like Jonathan Wilson's and White Denim's new albums but I've not heard either yet (got to have some music reserved for Santa to bring)

The low
No more new music by JJ Cale, unless there's stuff hidden in the vaults

Gotta agree about Sabbath - 13 is the first worthwhile elpee they've done in aeons

ah Amazon's stupid inane piece of anti-cussin' software up to its usual tracks. I think it took exception to the name F*** Buttons.
