It's impossible to choose eight favourite songs as it does an injustice to other songs that are left out. So i've gone for eight different artists instead.

1, A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harem
2, Avalon - Roxy Music
3, Hotel California - The Eagles
4, The Boxer - Simon & Garfunkel
5, Positively 4th Street - Bob Dylan
6, Mac The Knife - Frank Sinatra
7, Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
8, Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones

C. Allison says:
The idea of Desert Island Discs is that these songs tell a story of your life, not just your 8 favourite songs.

1. TWELFTH STREET RAG Pee Wee Hunt & his Orchestra - the first tune I liked - a 78!
2. TELSTAR The Tornados - my first record, Xmas present with first record player.
3. A HARD DAYS NIGHT - best intro ever (one chord) , singing by both John and Paul, such energy and memories of the film.
4. FERRY CROSS THE MERSEY - I loved Gerry & the Pacemakers and this has great pathos. Another film to remember.
5. BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER Simon & Garfunkel - best record ever was my judgement on first hearing it (a late night BBC2 programme). Still a valid claim.
6. GRAND HOTEL Procol Harum Could choose any of nearly 200 tracks from my favourite band but this might be the peak one. Gary Brooker and the band do this brilliantly now with orchestras but this mid 70s original features the truly brilliant drummer B J Wilson and I love when the guitar comes screaming in just before the final verse.
7. I ONLY WANT TO BE WITH YOU Dusty Springfield - still my best female voice and this is just a great, lively track.
8. CHASE SIDE SHOOT UP Brian Bennett (ex Shadows) - well if you don't know what this theme tune sounds like or means, then you are not a golfer!

Now I could choose another eight... totally different...... And yours will be miles different from mine.
But maybe someone has one or two of these in their selection?

So you could basically just take a radio.

Jesse James - If you want a love affair.
Beloyd - Get in to your life.
Flowers - For Real.
Bobby McClure - You bring out the love in me.
Epicenter feat Sandra Feva - Don't come up here no more.
Luther Ingram- If loving you is wrong.
OJays - Loving You.
Anthony White - Hey Baby.
Curtis Mayfield - No thing on me.
George Jackson - Aretha sing one for me.
