Toffeeman - Good Lord, was I right? Great, thanks. :-)

Shawn - Yes, I think we're still playing. Charlie Daniels?

I've got one if you guys are still playing and you don't mind me cutting in.
Born on the Isle of Wight, started his musical life as a drummer but is more renowned for his bass playing, in his younger days spent time as a milkman but not in Kansas City (clue!)

Leftin, SC told me I was right in an edit, good job I spotted it.

You're right of course. Difficult to pitch these things correctly isn't. Either too easy or too difficult. Not being a great Clash fan it took a bit of thought but I got the Nilsson straight away.

Nick Drake's sister is Gabrielle who appeared in UFO (or was it Space 1999?)

S.C. - Well done. Sir Harold of Nilsson is the man. Am 100% sure Toffeeman is right about M.J. The Mott bit convinces me, as do the Clash hints.

Schizoid - Yes, Alison Clarkson is "easy to admire".

Toffeeman - My guess is Nick Drake. His sister is an actress, I believe. Am not confident at all, though!

Toffeeman says:
OK here we go then. I was born in the far east but am buried in the Midlands. My glamorous sibling is still alive and performing.

Going home now so I'll pick this up later

Cheers Toffee - I'll carry on then:

Born West London 1955. Welsh father and mother of Russian descent. Favourite band Mott The Hoople. Supports QPR. Had chart success for a while after leaving previous band acrimoniously in 1983. A recent musical project is named after two chemical elements.

To anyone who answers, please feel free to set another if you're confident you're right rather than wait for me to look in.

That's right, Toffee. Also, an apology. I have since been told that MJ was born in South London, not West.

Toffeeman says:
Hi, SCH,

I think you're right. That's what I would have guessed.

Harry Nilsson?

Sorry for delay - have had 3 days out of circulation. In fact, Pete Way is the man!

New one... Very tall singer from Brooklyn, noted for writing hits for others, yet having two major hits written by others. An Anglophile, he died in '94. Didn't enjoy shaving often.

Shot in the dark time - is it Captain Sensible?

Leftin says:
Left turnin! :-)

An amiable Londoner, this bass-player is taking time out from the band he has been in longer than anyone, bar the singer. Rock'n'roll ill-health is to blame. He has another band, and has made some solo albums. He has a habit of lying down when playing his main band's longest number! He also collects train-sets.

Yes, it is the (presumed) late Richey Edwards. Well done.

Your left turnin. I mean your turn, Leftin.

Richey Edwards?

Hailing from Blackwood, Gwent, this person began as driver and roadie for a band whose rhythm guitarist and main songwriter he later became.

Peter Hammill definitely lives near Bath now, by the way, as does Mike Giles. Prog Country. :-)

Peter K. hasn't set a new question, so could I be presumptuous? Ok:

Her real name is Alison, and she's a part-Asian Londoner. She named herself after a comic character - nearly. Although she had some (male) help, she made it on her own terms in the early '90s. Her hit singles are too well-known to use as clues, but Hangover was a minor hit, and a very good number. Who is she? (And what's she doing now? I don't know.)

Gordon Dent says:
SCH - PH was born in Ealing, so at least it was west London. He went to a Jesuit boarding school in Berkshire, so he seemed to be migrating towards Bath but I don't think he got there, unless he recorded at Real World Studios later in life.

Posted on 6 Feb 2010 12:02:58 GMT
Nadgers - I was going to guess Hamill but I always thought he was born in Bath.

Can we have a question please, Mr. K?

Gordon Dent says:
Peter - Yes, it is Peter Hammill. Well done.
