True enough. But now you know you're looking for someone born five years before Kylie.

And she might, but she'd hate herself in the morning.

I think we're talking about the vocalist who everyone seems to love but I don't - Elizabeth Fraser.

Gordon D says:
Correct, Toffee. She had a close association with Jeff Buckley.

Toffeeman says:
A very close association! (Apparently).

OK, here's a singer that you can understand! Born in Arizona, it seems that her family were famous (locally) before she was even on the planet. In her career she's provided vocals to over 100 LPs, but isn't known for writing her own songs.

Toffeeman says:
Yes, that's how I got to her (in a solution sense)

Indeed it is...

Closely associated with Disney as a child performer, she went on have a number of hits in the late 50s and early 60s, and was closely identified with the beach-oriented movies and music of the time.
She went on to take part in commercials for peanut butter. Later commercial projects included perfume and teddy bears.
She is still with us, and suffers from MS.

I'd say it sounds like Annette Funicello... but probably not as i can't remember her having any UK hit singles.

nocheese says:
It is Annette, Kevin. I didn't specify UK hits.

I always assume on Amazon Uk that hits will be Uk unless specified... know I shouldn't assume anything ! :-)

Born June 1944 in Jasper , Alabama. This singer obtained work as a session singer for , amongst others, Elvis Presley and Percy Sledge. Her three most sucseeful solo recordings all reached number 12 in the US charts .

Sadly I'm old enough to remember the song. Here's another one I remember:

This singer began her career by singing in the restaurant run by her parents. During the sixties she recorded an album of blues and country standards. She abandoned her career on her marriage in 1969, but was encouraged to sing again in the 80s when the Northern Soul boom saw a revival of interest in her music. Tragically she developed throat cancer, and died in the early years of the present century. Artists who have spoken highly of her include Elvis, Elkie Brooks and Morrissey.

Work constraints unfortunately nocheese! Been crazy the last few weeks. Anyway:

Berkshire born lead singer, sung as original member of U.K. prog/hard rock band, left/fired from the band in 1969, released a solo single before relocating to the States and forming a psych/hard rock band with various West Coast musicians. He left that band and the music business after the bands 2nd album and became a Director of Therapy of an American hospital until the early 80's. In a bizarre episode in 1980 he was approached by a U.S. management company to undertake a tour under the name of his original band even though there were no other original or long term members involved! A tour was a disaster as fans realised this was a dud group and some shows nearly ended in riots, the management of the real band sued them for damages. He has not been seen since this tour and his whereabouts remain unknown to the present day, although rumours suggest he may be living in a trailer somewhere in the Arizona desert!

Yeah Ben! Don't be 'sarcky'!!! You may very well not of heard of him...but that's the whole point of the Identity game! I could of made it easy by saying 'Deep Purple singer before Ian Gillan' but that would of been a little too easy! ha ha! I could also of said 'born in Slough' but that also would of narrowed it down a bit!

Gordon's go!
