nowt wrong with the sugababes, nuge, got that collection myself (fortunately they omitted the dreadful "new year").
some really dire stuff here tho' people, can't believe TWO of you have "hans christian andersen" & greatest hits by nana mouskouri (shurely a contender for shortest album ever). had her inflicted on me as a child by my parents, "cu cu ru cu cu" et al, excruciating.
the stuff with the least street cred i've got...probably best of glen campbell (but i.m.o. some great songwriting by bacharach et al), john denver live in london (excellent version of brel's "amsterdam"), a double best of the corries (complete with "bonny lass o' fyvie, margo !) &, what some would consider in poor taste but i love it, a flock of seagulls' 1st.

Got FoS 1st-nowt the matter with it. I've also got all of New Musik's ( we don't want your name, just your number) albums from the same era.

;0)...Way back in the 80s when I played sets at the school disco I'd slip this one in, so to speak..usually between the smooochers like Spandau's True. I'll have to track down The Hey Song. I can mash it in a mix with the Singing Sheep and Crazy Frog.

How do GAID. And nowt wrong with Glen either. V partial to Rhinestone Cowboy and Wichita Lineman. When i was a young scrote in Liverpool, was well into FoS tunes like I Ran. Also had the LP but it disappeared. Also read someone not liking Sigue Signue Sputnik. I did though, way back then and still now.
RAB - nope. I've got it too. Nowt wrong with the Eurythmics. Quality pop.

In reply to an earlier post on 30 Jan 2013 16:48:26 GMT
Yeah but someone of RAB's generation havinh The Eurythmics is akin to you having the best of Doris Day

tag, nuge, hope you had good skiing at wochende. nowt wrong with s.s. sputnik either & "i ran" is my favourite of f.o.s., much better than the somewhat more commercial "wishing". these are also 2 of the boy campbell's best ; i've even done the former at karaoke...
eurythmics - not my bag, but quality pop. the unplugged version of "you have placed a chain on my heart" is a real hairs-on-the-back-of-the-neck-standing-up job.
all together now : "i've been walking these streets so long...".

JB it has....that was the reason why I bought the cd,only to
find that had the same tune on a compo....btw Kenny Rogers
totally disowns that he ever recorded that track!!,his excuse
was that it was recorded by 'The First Edition'

Okay? Well, there are lots of confessions coming up on here now, so?.....hmmm?.....(*shuffles feet, blushes bright red and then nervously clears throat*).....I love ERASURE! - there?! I've done and gone and said it!!! ;o>

I can usually take or leave some of what passes for the music, but ohhh the lyrics, they just get me every time?.....Oh L'Amour - Am I Right?, Sometimes, Always, well So The Story Goes.....and I bet you're thinking Oooh I Love To Hate You, but I say Stop! because I may sail on a Ship Of Fools but be a Star - and give A Little Respect.....please?!!

I know? I'll get my coat and leave the Music Forum quietly now.....
I'm guessing it'll just be a taxi for one? so I can get the driver to play Blue Savannah at full blast then!!! :o>

Gordon Dent says:
I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with Erasure. The only reason I dislike them is that I used to work with someone who played an Erasure greatest hits cassette on continuous replay for about 3 weeks (possibly longer). I dislike Bananarama and The Pointer Sisters for exactly the same reason.

Nothing wrong with Eurythmics, Erasure or the Pointer Sisters in my book. I have Read My Lips and Schubert Dip in my collection. Is it a coincidence that you can buy each album for a penny?

Not on CD, but like the OP I've recently discovered I'm not impartial to a bit of Petula Clark (got 2 compilation LPs).

Probably on CD it would have to be Alisha's Attic- 'Alisha Rules the World' but that's going out ere long.

lez, that's dire, worse even than anything ms. mouskouri came up with. or anything off h.c. andersen, even.

In reply to an earlier post on 31 Jan 2013 10:20:35 GMT
Ohhh dammit?!.....that's just not fair!!!

I'm already getting very funny looks from the window cleaner for being caught dancing around the kitchen in my jammies this morning to Ooh Aah (Just A Little Bit) by Gina G! - and NOW I'm going to be singing that all day long too, Lez Lee!

Right? Well, I have no choice but to meet your So Macho by Sinitta then?.....and I'll raise you with I Think We're Alone Now by Tiffany! - so there! HA HA HA!!! ;o>

MC Zaptone says:
Not entirely sure why Pet Clarke would raise an eyebrow or two, great voice. My absolute favourite British female vocalist was Dusty Springfield Probably the finest British female singer of all time.
That she was at one time the biggest selling female artist in the world.
Was responsible for Led Zeppelin getting a deal with Atlanta Records (J.P.Jones had done session work on he records and she told Jerry Wexler to sign them, he did, unheard on her say so).
She was the only white female performer to perform on the soul/chittlin' circuit for years.
She helped introduce Motown to the British audience with her 'Motown Special~Ready, Steady, Go' special featuring Martha Reeves; Little Stevie Wonder etc.

Now for a real doozie: The Golden Age of Hollywood
I bought it for a DJ gig but I do very occasionally like to play stuff like Make 'Em Laugh; Somewhere Over the Rainbow; Putting on the Ritz; Lady Is a Tramp etc.

What do you have in your collection that wouldn't raise an eyebrow or ten?!!

Looking at the admissions above I think I can honestly say that there is nothing in my collection to raise an eyebrow at but then again it's subjective, so anything in my collection may cause that reaction, after all I do have a fair few folk albums. :-)

best bones

I reckon it's the absence of much respected artists that I have no time for that would raise more eyebrows than the ones that I have. However it might surprise some to know that I do possess the following:
8 Sade albums
8 David Gray albums
4 Catatonia albums

Cornish - don't tell Su you've got 8 David Gray albums, she'll want me to buy the five she hasn't got!
