soon, all our childhoods will have proved to have been lies, the despicable bastid.

Clem Feeney says:
Most of the Legends (Shirley Bassey, Johhny Cash, Neil Diamond, Ray Davies)) have done a good job of getting the audience in a good mood before the more "serious" acts come on later. They are Glastonbury's hangover cure. The only exception I recall was Paul Simon who seemed completely bored throughout his set and made one of the most enviable music back catalogues sound boring.

This year I really enjoyed Lily Allen's return and Rodrigo and Gabriella. I was a bit bemused by Lana del Ray, but I think she's a grower.

What overwhelmed me was the mediocrity of most acts that were televised, most of which aims wouldn't cross the road to see for free!
The exceptions and great acts were Parton, Metallica & Plant in that order for me. I'm sure there were othergood acts there (Band Of Skulls for example) which were not broadcast.

In regards to their 'bear hunting' controversy, did Metallica get booed when they were on stage by anyone?

In reply to an earlier post on 2 Jul 2014 16:58:02 BDT
Certainly didn't hear any boos, it was one hell of a set - catch it on iplayer.

Robert Plant and Metallica on the same bill - irony of ironies. Am boycotting Metallica because of Hetfield's hunting.

Metallica nailed it IMO. Great set and they seem to relish the whole Glastonbury vibe.

Lana Del Rey, Robert Plant & Nick Mulvey were the best I saw from all the highlights prog's.
Can't go along with the flow about Dolly, or, in previous years, JayZ & Beyoncé. Undoubtably went down well all of them, but I'm in the Noel camp about them being wrong for Glasto (Along with Metallica). just a personal thing about the type of music.

No music is wrong for Glastonbury as it is one of the few festivals that embraces all genres!!!!!

Metallica were sensational; I've been a fan for years but was becoming a little jaded...Far better performance than on that recent movie/concert dvd thing. Hopefully we will see further metal there ( I think Motorhead as a british institution would be great - obviously not headlining and similiarly Sabbath)

There's also a full 1080p HD upload of Metallica at Glastonbury on Youtube :-))
