Yet another song for Spacepig - to make him homesick!

Spacepig says:
Cheers nocheese, but didn't it ever cross your mind that it may have been the likes of this that drove me away in the first place?

Or indeed this :

Brilliant lez Lee, haven't laughed so much in ages. Unfortunately, it is very realistic. My accent is practically identical to the mannie on the phone (possibly even a bit stronger) and I come across situations like that nearly every day.
Don't know if you have ever heard the Cork accent, but once the beers are flowing, and I get into a rant with the locals, well I am really going to have to get someone to record it sometime and you'll see what I mean.

I've lived in Scotland for several years but still get caught out.
This morning I had a parcel delivered which I had to sign for. : -

Courier: "Sunny"
Me: "Yes, much better than yesterday"
Courier, staring at me, hesitating, then saying slowly and loudly: "Surname?"

Have you been to Schull Spacepig? Visited it 4 times in 5 years and loved every minute, Ireland is a beautiful place!

In reply to an earlier post on 3 Jul 2012 18:09:40 BDT
Spacepig says:
Schull is only a few miles away, my ex landlady lives there. Everyone tells me its a lovely place, I have never been there. In fact, I have been here nearly 5 years now, and, apart from my trip up to Dublin to see Hawkwind a few weeks ago, and passing through there on the way to the airport, I have never been anywhere in Ireland apart from Cork. Never felt the need to - I don't have a car so its a bit awkward to get around. I come from the NE of Scotland so I have seen the sea and cliffs and things before, as far as I can tell, they look much the same wherever you go. There's no proper mountains here, I used to enjoy spending weekends up the Highlands before I came here, so need to go and look at molehills.
Nope, I think I have turned into a bit of a townser now. I always told myself that some holiday or other I would go and have a tour around. But - I can't see the point of traipsing around Kerry or Donegal in the pouring rain when, for the same price or less, you can go and spend a couple of weeks lying on a beach in the balzing sun and sight-seeing in Turkey or Tunisia or whatever, with all the food and drink you can scoff thrown in for good measure. Maybe some day - just not yet.
