No,fraid not Derek, but it's a tradition on this 'er thread to post honours
to landmarks! :-)

Edit: and we leave the 'big ones' for Grey to fill in.....and a barrel
of ale for me ;-)

update on Dave 2: lots of outstanding yummies on discs 2 & 3. One of the best Big Rivers I've heard - probably equal best with other standout versions; Eyes is very intense with heaps of highs - awesome; Let it Grow is excellent; all seem okay with the slower trax; Truckin' through to Wharfy is a grate ride; I am a fan of U.S. Blues and i'll have to judge this version after a few more listens - to my ears at this moment it stands as the best official version released so far. UJB leaves a smile as the encore. The bonus disc is very worthy of inclusion. The good thing you guys would probably like to know is that Jez is in fine voice most of the time. I've never liked Saturday Night and I think that fans of that particular track won't be doing handstands over this version - Bobby's voice wrecks it even more than normal.

China - Dick & Dave gone fishing - nice one!

Been in touch with some of my undercover contacts - plenty of Chinese whispers; seems like the slow boat has been sighted in the outer reaches. Will keep you posted. Intelligence suggests we'll be UPStaged by TF again too.

Dave's here. He arrived yesterday lunchtime, just as Lizzie and I were about to go out to the North York Moors for a walk. By the time we got back (after a meal in the Fox & Hounds, Sinnington - gorgeous) it was too late to think about listening to what he had to say. Will check him out today or tomorrow.

china cat says:
Well I guess North Yorkshire qualifies as outer reaches when you're at home!
Happy listening...

I'm not even home this week, but I expect there will be a ransom demand from the PO before they'll release mine, so whatever happens I can't see me getting my hands on mine until next week : (

Still no sign of Dave.........
Probably the consignment went via oz,shipped across the Indian Ocean and
hijacked by Somalian pirates.......

Don't stress blokes - it'll come. Our friend Dave has suggested to my ears that this may be the best '74 set released since DP12 & GD Soundtrack. Time will tell if i still think that later on.

In reply to an earlier post on 14 May 2012 23:28:40 BDT
S'funny, but I never warmed to the GD Movie soundtrack. Something missing that I could not put my finger on....................it lacked zing, or the intensity of the 72-73 stuff and the 77 stuff I had heard to the point in time when I got it, the soundtrack that is.

I could be wrong.

Puffany says:
hey Smitty - did you ever catch up with Dick 12? That is my pick out of all of the '74 releases. Disc 3 in particular has some stellar moments up with their best from any year imo - the track simply called 'Jam' on disc 3 is outstanding. Great 'Eyes' as well.

In reply to an earlier post on 15 May 2012 07:43:51 BDT
Fraid not, Puffany.............Must check it out. Thanks for the recommendation :-)

...captured by the Somalian pirates Dave managed to escape....and
reached for that nearest camel and is reported to be crossing the
Sahara Desert.
