This drought is a nuisance. It's washed away a couple a flower beds the last few days, soaked a load of washing hanging on the line, and filled not only the old rainwater butt, but the new (3 days old) one. My tap/shower water is on a meter, so we pay basic connection (emphasis on the "con") rate. We make our tea with rainwater and it's excellent. SouthWest Water loses more in leaks than it delivers to customers, while whingeing to the government (sic) about the need for grants. The grants are required to pay the stockholders of course! Grrr!

Love the dales, but haven't been around that way to explore for a good few years now.

MONDO - I know what you mean about the drought, did you hear on the local news that there is a good possibility that this April could end up the wettest on record!!!
I hope you went & washed your mouth out after mentioning SWW - damn, I've done it now, where's the mouthwash ;-)

Well I've received my email saying they've started shipping Dave's Picks Vol. 2, so I can start counting down the days to arrival. Wonder if I'll get charged extra by Royal Mail this time!

Likewise, Derek, but not the one that says one's own copy is heading off on the Arctic convoy.
Meantime we're basking in spring sunshine while you chaps are catching up with your missing rainfall. The ice is melting and the snow drops are just emerging....

After the weeks of listening to E72, there does appear to be a dearth of new Dead material so roll on Vol2.
Also, what's happened to the Pure Jerry series, that stopped in 2009 with Vol 9 when there was talk of 12!

Chris Jones says:
Me too. And today I found out that I'd won a copy of Europe 72 2CD vol two. Which will fit in nicely with my collection. Had a lot of acquisitions recently. People keep sending me samples for me to listen to, to check out if they'd be suitable for SoL. And I received one today from Chris Thompson and Coral Creek. The CD is produced by Bill Nershi (from string Cheese Incident) and, having listened to the CD twice, it sounds really good. I also bought lots of Airplane. PopMarket had a special offer (1 day only) for 10 CDs for £25.71 inc p&p.
Takes Off
Pillow
Baxters
Crown of Creation
Bless its Pointed Little Head
Volunteers
Worst of
Live at the Fillmore East 1969 (Sweeping of the Spotlight)
The Woodstock Experience (2 CD)

"Worst of" is somewhat redundant, as it's a compilation. Woodstock is not as good as it could have been. The first CD has the whole of the unexpanded Volunteers album on CD 1 with the first part of JA's Woodstock performance. CD 2 finishes off Woodstock. To my mind, it would have been better to have had CD 1 and the first part of CD 2 totally Woodstock, and then include a different live show rather than Volunteers.

Oh, and I also bought the Classic Albums versions of the first five JA albums for good measure. I might be selling some duplicates (though not those with members of the Dead involved.

Cornish - I suppose this is where I have the advantage as a relative newcomer in that it's all still fresh to me. Just listening to disc 6 of DP 29, which I suspect will become one of, if not the favourite, DP's as far as I'm concerned.

I went down a similar route with Airplane over the last year or so; I enjoyed the Woodstock but the combination with Volunteers is a bit odd. I'm still missing Bark, which though not without faults has a few well remembered crackers from younger trippier times. You and others might enjoy this link Adrian sent me - http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/hot-tuna/video/wooden-ships_1005445.html?utm_source=NL&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=120424

Hey all. With Dave 2 heading this way soonly, i thought i'd play Dave 1 as a warm-up. Whether the lyrics are lame or not, I can't help but love the music for Lazy Lightning/Supplication - t'was a big winner on Dick 3 as well. I'm ready now for Dave 2...bring it on!

Hellooooo China-man! I have all BAR 7 Dicks. I'm happy with the Dicks I have - not after anymore Dicks.
I do hope Dave arrives soon. I really don't want that "Dave's not here man" scene.
