Legacy Recordings has set January 24 as the domestic release date of two essential new titles from the seminal metal band SCORPIONS: "Comeblack", a new album of classic rock covers and fresh performances of signature repertoire recorded earlier this year, and "Get Your Sting And Blackout - Live in 3D", available on Blu-ray disc, an 11-camera 3-D concert film recorded in Saarbrücken, Germany on April 15, 2011 during SCORPIONS' current farewell tour.

Launched by guitarist Rudolf Schenker in 1965, SCORPIONS forged metal, rock and pop into a sound that's come to signify an entire genre through hard rock anthems like "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and hits like "Send Me An Angel", "Wind of Change" and "Still Loving You", selling more than 100 million records in the process.

Last year, SCORPIONS announced that the group's "Get Your Sting And Blackout" tour, an epic ongoing worldwide rock 'n' roll odyssey in support of 2010's "Sting In The Tail", would be the group's last before retirement. The tour is slated to run through 2012 with a string of historic farewell blowouts and festival performances scheduled Europe culminating with shows at the Wacken Open Air festival (August 4, 2012) and Munich's Olympiahalle (October 13, 2012).

Wanting to create a truly memorable concert film to do justice to power of the live show and the high energy emotional impact of the final tour, SCORPIONS chronicled the sold-out concert on April 15, 2011 in Saarbrücken, Germany with a state-of-the-art 3D production. Helmed by director Gerd F. Schultze (who's worked on 3D films with Michael Jackson, Bryan Adams, Joe Cocker, Carlos Santana and German superstar Peter Maffay), "Get Your Sting and Blackout - Live in 3D" puts the viewer into the VIP box at the ultimate SCORPIONS concert. In addition to 100 minutes of pure SCORPIONS music, "Get Your Sting And Blackout - Live In 3D" includes more than half-an-hour of behind-the-scenes bonus material.

"The preview audience was absolutely euphoric and stunned by the intensity and the never-before-witnessed power and intimacy in which they were able to experience the SCORPIONS' fantastic concert," said Gerd Schultze following a theatrical screening of the film. "The people left the screening with a completely new and never-before-seen concert experience and wanted to watch it all over straight away. Part of the reason is that we have managed to create an unbelievable 3D depth with a specially developed method, which is very pleasant to watch. Using the new camera technology, we managed to translate 3D in the cut and montage technique in a style that will meet the expectations of a first class product even in ten years time. It makes you feel like you're sitting in the VIP lounge amidst the audience through this 11 camera 3D concert staging and its monstrous 5.1 surround and stereo sound. At the same time, the SCORPIONS perform their unbelievably powerful and visually unique show with all their hits live in your living room. This is pure dynamite ... fasten seat belts and take off ... into the third dimension."

"Saarbrücken was a very good choice," wrote the band in a press statement, "our fans were simply sensational and gave us the chance to thank them for their many years of support."

At some point during the "Get Your Sting And Blackout" tour ("We can't remember the day, the month or the hour"), SCORPIONS, enjoying the success of "Sting In The Tail" and the emotional rejuvenation of the farewell tour ("Screaming fans everywhere we went!") decided to record one last classic album. "The idea to go back to the studio was born out of pure excitement," said the band who cut an album mixing covers of rock 'n' roll standards that informed and inspired the SCORPIONS alongside new productions and performances of the songs in the band's core catalog that have proved the most meaningful to the members.

The result, "Comeblack", is, according to the band, "an encore for our die-hard fans, to thank them for all the support for so many years. At the same time, this is a tribute to legendary bands from the sixties, like THE BEATLES and THE ROLLING STONES, who have inspired us to follow our dreams. We hope you like it as much as we do... Rock on and ... Comeblack."

Robert Williams of Metal-Rules.com conducted an interview with DIO DISCIPLES members Scott Warren (keyboards) and Rudy Sarzo (bass) prior to the band's performance at South Texas Rock Fest in San Antonio, Texas this past October. You can now watch the chat below.

DIO DISCIPLES is the new project featuring former DIO members Simon Wright (drums), Craig Goldy (guitar), Scott Warren (keyboards) and Rudy Sarzo alongside singers Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) and Toby Jepson (LITTLE ANGELS, GUN). The band pays tribute to the legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio and is fully supported by Dio's widow/manager, Wendy, who recently posted that "there will never be another Ronnie, but we want to keep his music alive and hope you will support the band and become one of the DIO DISCIPLES."

Sarzo was unable to take part in DIO DISCIPLES' European tour and was temporarily replaced by James Lomenzo (MEGADETH, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, WHITE LION).

In an interview with Metal Assault, Simon stated about how DIO DISCIPLES was conceived, "I think it was a combination of all of us. We talked long and hard and discussed 'Should we or shouldn't we? Is it right? How do we really feel about all this?' And it just became apparent that we just couldn't let it go. We've been in Ronnie's band for such a long time and he taught us so much, he was an inspiration and we learned so much from him about being on the road, being in the studio... We just came to the conclusion that we just couldn't let it go and we needed to keep the songs going for the fans; that's the most important thing we're doing here. We're not trying to kid anybody here; we're just doing it from the heart and continuing his legacy. It's really as simple as that."

On the topic of DIO DISCIPLES setlist, Simon said, "The problem that a lot of bands have is that they've got a strong batch of hits, so we still have to do songs that are like that - we have to do 'Heaven And Hell', 'Rainbow In The Dark', 'Holy Diver', 'We Rock'... So we're doing those, but we're trying to throw in as many curveballs as we can at the moment. As we progress, I think we'll be throwing in more songs from Ronnie's catalog, which should be a couple of surprises - songs that maybe were never played live, or that were played live but a long, long time ago. Because, like I said before, we wanna make it something special for the fans and they all have everything different songs that they love. We can't do them all, but we're gonna try and fit as many of them in as we can."

The official "lyric video" for "Reborn", a brand new song from New York hardcore metal legends BIOHAZARD, can be seen below. The track comes off the band's much-anticipated new album, "Reborn In Defiance", which will be released in Europe on January 20 via Nuclear Blast.

"Reborn In Defiance" track listing:

01. 9:IIIX6.941
02. Vengeance Is Mine
03. Decay
04. Reborn
05. Killing Me
06. Countdown Doom
07. Come Alive
08. Vows Of Redemption
09. Waste Away
10. You Were Wrong
11. Skullcrusher
12. Never Give In
13. Season The Sky

Audio samples of the entire "Reborn In Defiance" album can be found on the NuclearBlast.de web site.

Not only is "Reborn In Defiance" BIOHAZARD's first original lineup album in 18 years, but it also marks the last album recorded by the band before the departure of bassist and co-vocalist Evan Seinfeld. The effort remains a testament to the four founding members (Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel, Evan Seinfeld and Danny Schuler) and their unique chemistry.

Having last recorded and toured as the fundamental lineup with the release of "State Of The World Address" back in 1994, BIOHAZARD reformed with all four original members back in 2008 to commemorate the band's 20th anniversary. They went back out on the road together over the next two years, during which time inspiration struck.

The legendary Toby Wright (ALICE IN CHAINS, METALLICA, SEVENDUST, KORN) was brought in to produce the 13-track "Reborn In Defiance", which was recorded in Los Angeles.

BIOHAZARD has sold over five million albums worldwide since its formation in the late Eighties in Brooklyn, New York. They achieved international success with their albums "Urban Discipline" on Roadrunner Records in 1992 and 1994's "State of the World Address" on Warner Brothers. Over the years, BIOHAZARD has collaborated with ONYX, CYPRESS HILL, AGNOSTIC FRONT, HATEBREED, PANTERA, and TYPE O NEGATIVE, among others. The band has continued to tour nationally and internationally, sharing stages with HOUSE OF PAIN, OZZY OSBOURNE, SLAYER, DANZIG, FEAR FACTORY, SEPULTURA and AGNOSTIC FRONT.

The OhioProg 2012 three-day progressive rock festival - which was scheduled to take place September 7-9, 2012 at the Canton Palace Theatre in Canton, Ohio - has been canceled.

Commented the organizers: "OhioProg 2012 turned to crowd funding platform to make tickets available for the three-day progressive rock festival in an attempt to ensure enough people would attend to cover the costs and expenses of holding such a grand event. The Kickstarter campaign ended on January 2, 2012 with only 60 tickets pledged. A total of around 400-450 tickets pledged at the various levels would have reached the funding goal.

"The festival adopted Kickstarter's project criteria in that, it is all-or-nothing funding. So, since the goal was not reached OhioProg 2012 has been canceled. Also, because funding on Kickstarter is all or nothing, all pledges have been automatically canceled.

"We thank the many that did pledge and committed to attending the festival. The support meant a lot. We'd also like to thank those at the Canton Palace Theatre and those in the Canton area who have been very gracious to our staff and efforts. And, of course, all of the bands who were invited to perform at OhioProg 2012, we thank you for believing in our event!

"To join the OhioProg mailing list to be notified of future related events, please visit the OhioProg web site at www.ohioprog.com."

OhioProg 2012 was slated to include a Friday pre-show, "A Tribute To The Classics," and a Saturday and Sunday full-day main event featuring eleven bands spanning five countries. Scheduled performers included FM, GLASS HAMMER, NIGHTINGALE, ARENA, PERSEPHONE'S DREAM, ORPHAN PROJECT, AFTER THE FALL, CRYPTIC VISION and KINETIC ELEMENT.

Spacepig says:
I had to go the supermarket tonight. I hate going food shopping, I never know what to get and I always end up with loads of things, but not enough to knock together a decent meal with. It's probably my most loathsome domestic chore of them all.
But, right beside the supermarket we have one of these tiny Cash Convertor type places which always has a pile of crap CDs. Very rarely anything of interest there, but I can't pass by without having a look, well, you just never know do you? So, tonight, to delay the inevitable trek through Tesco's door, a quick glance at the CD shelf showed me they had at least some new stock in. Ten minutes later, for the princely sum of €5, I left with:

Ashes Of The Wake
Life Is Killing Me
Deliverance

Not bad eh? let's have one from Type O Negative:
