Lewis Taylor-thankfully back in music now directing and playing bass behind the scene for Cee-Lo Green under name of Andrew Taylor (I believe). Probably the most underrated musical talent I think few people have heard of which is a great shame.

Cheeze will know this one, I bet very few of the rest of you do. I present, from Barcelona, Jan Satorras with Caremelito Fuxia:

Kevin Tihista - a best kept secret. No one knows who he is, but he's great.

Pipped to the post there, Baldman - that's you, me and Sera69. We're getting there! I've been putting him on the voting threads when suitable and he's had a few votes.
I think his latest is probably his best.

On This Dark Street

I wish he'd tour over here.

Dunno about 'few people' knowing but two bands I love that are definitely underrated (and short-lived) were Big Star and Jellyfish.

Johnny Dowd - gothic alt country (I guess) - although he uses ancient electronica - with jet black humour. Started out in his 50s and has released around a dozen albums to date.

'Betty' from his recent album No Regrets :

How many times have you played No Regrets JB? I've managed once so far and I've had it a good couple of weeks. Meh.

Johnny Bee says:
BN - agreed, it's nowhere near his best. Although I do like 'Betty' and a couple of other tracks. However, given that his first few albums are quite expensive, any of the following would be a better starting point:

Wrong Side of Memphis
The Pawnbroker's Wife
Cemetery Shoes

I picked up Cruel Words cheap - much better stuff.

How about Wake Up The Snakes - £2.60 + p&p new? Any good?

Johnny Bee says:
Cruel Words is a fine album, as is Wake up the Snakes (playing it now). And for under £4......It's just 'A Drunkards Masterpiece' and 'No Regrets' that don't quite do it for me, although, again, they have their moments, and I admire his integrity in putting out what he wants to.

Paul Burch:
I first saw Paul Burch supporting Ralph Stanley - an occasion when turning up in time for the support was not just a duty, not just a pleasure, but a revelation.

Birdland

The only album proper by very promising cusp-of-the80s/90s Brummie peroxide pudding bowl glam/punk/pop combo. Great guitar sound.

Attila the Stockbroker? I seem to remember a gem of his entitled 'Cocktails'. I think it was on a Cherry Red compilation...
