Same here Lez I have Life With You by them because one afternoon I heard this song, nice political content/comment.

In recognition of a hundred million album sales
In recognition of your popularity
You take your gaudy prize
From people you said you despise
You wear your self-respect upon your bended knee

In spite of all your claims
It looks like you're just the same
As every other clown who likes to put the crown
Before or after their name

In recognition of your service to the working class
In recognition of your party loyalty
You get an ermine robe
And you declare when you are probed
You only took it so the missus would be pleased

In spite of all your claims
It looks like you're just the same
As every other clown who likes to put the crown
Before or after their names

Oh vanity
It gets them one by one
Cat, religion, monarchy
But only in tale, fairly frail

In recognition of your bravery up on the stage
In recognition of your bankability
You get to wait in lines
With soldiers crippled by land mines
And you think it's the Yanks that don't get irony

In spite of all your claims
It looks like you're just the same
As every other clown who likes to put the crown
Before or after their name

In spite of all your claims
It looks like you're just the same

PROCLAIMERS - IN RECOGNITION LYRICS

best bones
B.O.F.

You mean to say Ay Ay Moosey does'nt get your feet a-tappin'. Where's your soul SC? ;0). While a brat KCATC were the first I ever saw. Such an excellent gig i still remember it clearly. Tropical Gangsters still gets regular spins too. As for Matt Bianco, i agree though there's a decent B Side tune Wap Bam Boogie. Then there was Blue Rondo A La Turk who had a hit with Klactoveedsedstein.

Ahhh, be careful now? Don't go walking all over my pathetic little teenage crushes!.....

♫ "I ask you the questions, But you tell me lies, Cause all of the time, You're just full of surprise!
Oh please tell me, Please tell me, If all this is true? Cause deep down inside, All I want is you!
Ohhhh...Makes me wanna dance, Ohhhh...It's a new romance!
Ohhhh...I look into your eyes, Ohhhh...Best years of our lives!" ♫

Modern Romance.....(*sigh*).....shoulder-padded pastel suits, those huge floppy fringes.....(*swoon*).....!

No, DW - I don't have too many kind words for 80s pop as a rule but Kid Creole & The Coconuts were good fun. I remember watching their Lifeboat Party revue and it was both entertaining and slickly done. If we're talking 80s pop with a Latin edge they were a damned sight better than the incredibly lame Modern Romance and po-faced ultra-poseurs Matt Bianco.

<How about the Saw Doctors, I've got a fair bit of their stuff, do they count against street credibility?>

Hope not, I've just bought two albums Play It Again Sham and To Win Just Once...The Best Of The Saw Doctors. I haven't played them yet so I don't know - and I'm sad to say, I can't even remember what made me buy them.

I won't have a word said against Letter From America! And please note Sunshine On Leith (brilliant title!) has a 5 star rating here on Zon.

I haven't noticed anyone fessin' up to Chris de Burgh. I promise not to tell Martin if you do.

I do own one album by Celine Dion - These Are Special Times and I'm rather fond of Legacy: The Greatest Hits Collection.

re- the Proclaimers - they have their moments - always liked the song 'over and done with' - bleak Scottish existentialism and catchy too - It's Over And Done With (Charlie Gillett Show - Capital Radio Live Session 16/4/87) - actually its a cracker..

I've got loads of TSFCC; didn't think to post here because I'm not ashamed of it. Granted it's not all wonderful, but they have some great songs, and they're brilliant live.
