Gordon D says:
No secret: I always quite liked Save Your Love. It certainly wasn't the worst song in the top 40 in December 1982 (that would be David Bowie & Bing Crosby singing The Little Drummer Boy) or January 1983 (that would be Keith Harris & Orville with Orville's Song).

good shout for a nom, peter, after clapton butchered the original. 'n' who am i to argue, if, even mrs ts says my music is all keech? :)

Never as far as I'm aware heard them so they have never annoyed me/ Likewise Miss Dion. probably only heard it the once during the film and presumably not even in it's entirety. Not a fan but don't hate her either so I'm guessing this must be down to massive overplay. Bit like my dislike for Clapton's Sheriff which is a decent enough song that I really liked for a while.

David E says:
It was interesting that the noms seem to be divided into two types - fairly popular songs that people are tired of hearing or just don't like and then novelty songs which are just plain awful. I took the view that I hardly ever hear the novelty songs so voted for the mainstream ones that get played too much and I don't like. As a few have said there are enough bad songs for another round

Tikka says:
Saw Titanic on a plane trip, so couldn't walk out. A worthy winner.

Personally reckon Bo Rhap's a bit unkind, but realise it was probably selected due to the tendency for it to keep getting undeserved 'Best single ever' or 'Best video ever' type awards. There are far worse songs on Night at the Opera (Good Company) - and far better (Prophet's Song).

Val H. says:
I'm also in favour of a second round - I've got a dead-set winner in mind.

Collette says:
Hey Foe. I love that Buggles song as well. Each to their own though, I suppose. :0)

TheFoe says:
Yes, interesting that the pop bands nommed got the least amount of votes, perhaps the Amazon faithful give them more credit than they'd care to admit.

Collette says:
And who the hell nommed the B.E.P.s? Never tire of hearing that song. It's still totally fab!

Gordon D says:
Never seen Titanic (and never intend to). Never heard the Céline Dion song, so far as I'm aware. Quite like 500 Miles and Where Do You Go To?, so I'm obviously well out of step with the rest of you.

In reply to an earlier post on 15 Mar 2014 16:12:38 GMT
...in which case I have heard it. Must've been very traumatic as my brain has blocked it out.

Actually, rather oddly for a music fan I never usually tend to notice the soundtrack unless something really stand out makes me go wow.

In reply to an earlier post on 15 Mar 2014 16:07:28 GMT
TheFoe says:
If you've ever seen Titanic, you'll know the song.

Posted on 15 Mar 2014 15:55:09 GMT
Well I've never heard the Celine number and if it is bad enough to trump the proclaimers I never ever want to.

Yeah go on Nuge, you know you want to!
