C. Withers says:
I have jumped in the deep end and bought three albums without try out the system first. Installed the down loader and everything works fine except for the download speed. I have been waiting all day and only download two tracks. If I pause it and then un-pause it's OK for a few % then stops again. Didn't have this problem at Tesco! anyone got any ideas?

my first album download EVER! had it downloaded in about 2 mins and playing immediatley on my lap top. No for being a non tech minded girl, I must say how easy and quick it was. I can only assume PC issues and internet connections will play a part in personal experience, I have high speed cable connection and a 6 mth old laptop running Vista so that probably helps, I wouldn't have bothered on my old home PC as I would have probably been there all day.

Usually downloads at 400k/sec here

My downloads are sporadically really slow. Occasionally they download in maybe 10 minutes but the next track may take hours. I do not have this problem whatsoever when I download from other sites (where it may only take 10 - 20 seconds to download a track - and I have downloaded 100's of mp3's) - so I don't think I'll be using this site for much longer!

I have jumped in at the deep end too a bought an album, so far it has taken 30mins to download half of the first song! I'm off back to iTunes as soon as this has finished. (which will probably be a weeks time at this rate!)

I too have jumped in at the deep end, based on my previous excellent experience of Amazon. I bought 4 (v cheap) albums and started to download. It's taking ages - 4 tracks out 0f 52 in half an hour. So I thought I'd see what Order Tracking had to say about it. There were my 4 albums, duly listed and the website comment was : "Based on Amazon Media EU S.à r.l.'s delivery policies, we estimate that your item(s) might not arrive by December 24. You may want to choose a faster delivery option, if available. "
How about that for honesty!

well i've just got my first single track down and playing on my mp3 in a matter of minutes. which for me is an astonishing breakthrough, i may even reward myself with a pint! as angie says, i think it's all about your computer spec. i have vista too, and a couple of speedy processors, infact its a packard bell easy note laptop. stick with it, i don't think we can put the blame on amazon. i am also downloading direct to windows media player as opposed to i-tunes. good luck.

Amazon advised me to uninstall then reinstall the downloader. I did and my album then downloaded in a couple of minutes. Previously it had taken an hour to download 3 tracks before it ground to a halt.

I've just bought my second MP3 album from Amazon tonight, Way Out West's We Love Machine - The Remixes, and it is painfully slow. That's putting it mildly. The first track, which is 10.7 MB is size, took over 10 minutes to download and after almost 45 minutes it is still downloading track 3... of 18!!! Not impressed with this at all as I have a 24 Mbps connection that otherwise works fast with every site I've been on. Downloading MP3s from Play.com for example is very, very quick. Won't be using Amazon for MP3s again that is a fact.

It may be your isp as some reduce the speed for people who download a lot of content not just say Amazon but the BBC's iPlayer etc. Can't say I've had this problem and my DSL is poor (under 2Mbps).

my last couple of downloads from Amazon have been on the slow side, earlier ones have been a lot faster, who knows the next maybe as fast as the earlier ones, here's hoping!!!!!!

This was raised in 2008?? It's 2011, and still doing this. If I download a twenty track album, it goes from approx 10 sec/track to 30 min/track around half the way in, then just errors all the items, forcing me to contact Customer Services to have the broken downloads reinstated in my account. Pausing the download briefly then starting it again gives it a little bit of a kick. Stopping it for 5-10 mins then restarting gets it back to the beginning (in the sense that it starts taking 10 sec/track then grinding to a halt within a few tracks).

What this all means is that I have to keep a very close eye on it, to save me contacting Customer Services when the downloads error and are lost. I'd say Amazon is the best MP3 store around, but this is making it a pretty painful customer experience. :(

I'm having really slow downloads too. They used to be fast. I tested my internet connection and it seems to be fast as always. It's painfully slow. Almost at dialup speeds!

My downloads are fast now. Not sure what changed, but maybe Amazon was bogged down at the time. It was afterall a Tuesday night when new releases are released.

First few tracks of an album downloaded easily. Now it has taken over 30 minutes to get 15% total of the next track. First and last purchase here.
