Mr E Shopper says:
I dont give a hit if they are included or not I download a track because I like it, not to bump it up some irrelevant popularity list.

I agree with Paul above. I used to work in record stores and know what a complex fix charts are anyway. We used to list things at no 1 before a single copy had been sold to joe public - it went on pre orders by record chains which are based on spin and hype from record companies. records would chart high if they were known to be backed by advertising campaigns. Record retailers would therefore order more copies pre release therefore ensuring their orders would rack the thing further up the charts. The single would then chart before a copy had been sold to the public ensuring it constant radio airplay. its why so much rubbish gets in the chart. And its very selective about what music should be included. Its all down to £ $ signs. The sheep (public) would then hear it a lot and go out and buy it like a bunch of conditioned halfwits.

I just think that due to "X Factor" there is just no point in thinking the Christmas No 1 spot is an honour, its almost guaranteed as soon as the live shows start.
I think the British Music Industry should make a ruling that popular TV singing candidates can have a number 1 but it's not permitted to be any of the prestigious charts(e.g. Christmas, New Year etc.) in the year that they've won the competition, for example the Winner of the 2009 X Factor wouldn't be permitted to be granted Number 1 for Xmas 2009 / New Year of 2010, but if they released a single the following year then they would be eligible.

I know i'm ranting but I'm sick to death of "X Factor" winners automatically gaining the Number 1 pushing down artists who have been in the business a lot longer, failing that can someone please shoot Simon Cowell and all the X Factor production team. It's an absolute embarassment.
