Love the download service - well actually i love [some of] the album prices.
3 for a dozen mp3 songs, no fold out lyrics, no cover art, no cd is fair.

It's about time the music industry and resellers admitted that not needing a cd pressing factory, insert printers, factory staff, storage warehouse, distribution staff, transport costs, high street stores and high street staff means mp3's are *significantly* cheaper.

(Oh, and that consumers aren't stupid enough to pay as much for mp3's as delivered cd media with album art)

has the 3 album promotion ended already? I was deciding which ones to get, and the prices have all just doubled.

C. Knowles says:
They've just changed some of the 3 offers. Take That, Il Divo, Rhydian etc have gone up to 6.49 but Britney and Leona are down to 3. Good for them to make more new albums available at the knockdown price - guess it's a case of download a 3 album when you see it (rather than thinking about it).

Bare in mind that although the overheads for cd production are not present in producing an mp3 this has no effect on the cost of using or owning a studio to create the material.
The overheads for this are very high.

I agree. I don't care much for the fold out lyrics [that's what Google's for and as I have an iPod you can attach lyrics to each track should I want to], or cover art etc. I don't want the CD when I am only ever going to use it once, and that's to upload the tracks.

And I also don't wish to pay 7.99 on iTunes when they're protected. Or 7.99, full stop!

America has had an Amazon store forever, it's about time we caught up.

I agree entirely with everything the initial poster says, except consumers are stupid enough to pay as much for mp3 (and AAC) as they would for the CD. Download albums should cost no more than 3-4.
