Please check out my debut novel, THE SECRET... a contemporary, romance with very much a character driven storyline. It is, in essence, a love story, but with quite a hard-hitting difference.
Consider the ingredients... a murder, a generous handful of emotional conflict, blended with plenty of sexy, romantic intrigue, and you have a compelling read that will keep you glued to your Kindle until the bitter-sweet denouement.

A woman's book? Most certainly yes, but quite a number of men have enjoyed it too... indeed only a few weeks ago another gentleman submitted a very pleasing review for it.
Do take a look.
Best wishes and happy reading

Why not try my book 'An Evil Wind' by Amanda Marigold, available in the Kindle store, if you're looking for something spooky in the Halloween season. The action takes place in the village of Witchfordley in the fens f England and concerns a local legend, that of the Pumpkin Man. It is said that every year on Halloween eve an evil ghost revisits the village in order to seek revenge. To find out the origin of the legend, you have to return to the medieval monastery built on the site of the present church, if you dare!
Next to the church is an allotment where local growers are vying to see who can grow the biggest pumpkin, but even here in this domesticated setting, evil is only just around the corner.
Let the dark cloak of the fen blow, the evil wind, transport you back in time and see if you dare continue with the story right to the end.

Karen Inglis says:
My 'time-slip' mystery adventure, The Secret Lake is aimed at children aged 8-11, but since so many adults (and at least one teenager!) have given it 5 stars I thought I'd mention it here. In the story, Stella and Tom, when trying to find their elderly neighbour's missing dog, travel back in time 100 years and meet the children living in their home and communal gardens... You can see the reviews on Amazon UK and USA (including 5 Stars last week from the ex Head Reader at Puffin UK!) and those from children on my website at http://thesecretlake.com It's also available in Kindle format. I hope this is of interest for anyone needing quality stocking fillers for their book loving 8-11 year-olds, or who would like a book that reminds them of the sorts of adventures they used to read as children. Best wishes, Karen Ingis

MadCow says:
`How about givin' him one, Pom?' said Darcy. `Poor bast**d. Stuck out
here on his own all the time.'

Jess clenched her fists. `Give him one what?' she said, though she
needed no further explanation. Darcy's meaning was obvious. Wally
stood a few feet away from the humpy, arms dangling, mouth gaping,
tongue half out. The black dog sat in the doorway, watching her with
venomous red eyes. Jess turned away in disgust.

`Make it worth your while, Pom.' Darcy spoke quietly, his dark eyes gentle
beneath his raised black brows. He patted his back pocket. `Could do
with a bit of pin money, couldn't ya?' He slid out his battered leather
wallet.

`No!' Jess jerked away from him, turning her back on both men. She
hardly knew what to think. Rage mingled with self-pity. How dare he?
What does he think I am?

`Look Pom. Look.' Darcy tapped her shoulder. Jess turned, her lower lip
trembling. Darcy held up two twenty dollar bills. One by one he placed
them on the hood of the Land Rover, his gaze holding hers while he did
so.

Tears sprang to the corners of Jess's eyes, despite her efforts to hold
them back. Slowly Darcy peeled off another twenty dollar note and
placed it neatly on top of the others. The hot metal of the vehicle
shimmered as the heat of the sun and the engine combined to blister
the dark blue paint.

`Couple of weeks' wages,' he said, anchoring the notes down with a
stone, though there was no breeze to lift them. `Ten minutes, at most.
Prob'ly less.' His face creased in compassion. `Look at him, Pom. Poor
bast**d. Look at him.' He pushed his wallet back into his pocket, his
eyes still locked on hers. `You'd be doin' him a good turn. Good deed for
the day.'

Although having the feel of a fantasy novel, Leiyatel's Embrace is very much grounded in science and so would appeal to lovers of both genres. Certainly not 'sword and sorcery' nor 'swash-buckling space opera', my first eNovel's aimed at those who like an involved, carefully crafted, gripping and rewarding story full of original ideas and plenty of twists. Setting, character, dialogue and narrative integrity have all played their roles but always in support of a damned good story.
It's not in-your-face but has a more classical, perhaps even subtle and gentler pace that respects the reader's intelligence.

Here's mine:

It sounds like easy money-a bit of driving work for enigmatic 'Investigative Consultant' Paul Zoff. But when struggling comic book dealer Rob Nelson takes on the job, he finds out there's a bit more to it than just driving.
Millionaire carpet king and retired cat burglar Jack Horner has had some rare comics stolen and and his right-hand man shot dead in a robbery, and thinks Zoff and Nelson might be the men to recover his property. But when two gunmen start to show an interest in Zoff's investigation and things start to turn nasty, there's only one place to go...Whitby. Very nice this time of year...
A rollicking Noir-ish tale of murder, mayhem and synth-pop, 'Acceptable In The Eighties' is funnier than 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo', and shorter than 'The Big Sleep'.

The Elect is a cross genre work so while it features the undead, it has a structure and plot of a detective or espionage story.
The plot starts with the field testing of a new breed of assassin, which is swiftly connected to a covert programme aimed at concealing and suppressing the outbreak of a new plague. This plague causes it's victim to suffer from dementing symptoms and an insatiable craving for human flesh. The new plague has already come to the attention of The Elect, the settled communities of vampires who use our cities as hunting grounds and who discreetly pull our strings. The Elect are not concerned with philanthropy, they are simply protecting their food supply.
