5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT BOOK, FEEL THE POWER AND BEAUTY OF GOD April 8, 2012 By Sara - See all my reviews
We choose books for our Bible Study group that will give our group something unique to reflect on and discuss when we meet. We sometimes read and discuss books about God, creation, the universe, etc., that aren't necessarily Christian, but are
The Reality Bible: Revealing God and Everythingmetaphysical and cosmological. Everyone in the group was wowed by the author's insights. Ash Vaz is definitely a profound thinker who also has the gift of being able to express his thoughts and beliefs in writing to share with us, so that we can, in turn, use these as touchstones to contemplate our own personal beliefs in God. This book is aptly titled, The Reality Bible, as it isn't religion specific, but it does reveal God to you and the mysteries and power of God with realism. This book can be life-changing if you are feeling personally unsettled and lost and unsure of the order in the universe and whether there even is God. The book flows beautifully when you read it and you feel more connected to God and the cosmos while reading it. This is a book that you can read and use to pause and reflect and reaffirm your life and God's presence in the universe.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Even long after finishing this book, I find that I am still thinking about it. This is absolutely the sign of a good book to me. This book will challenge you to think about the existence of God. This book will challenge you to think about the science behind God. This book will just generally challenge you to think! Having discussed the question of God for hours upon hours with many, many friends -- I found this book opened me up to new ideas that I hadn't considered. You don't have to be a scientist to read this book. You don't have to be church-going in order to read this book. You just have to want to learn more about the philosophical questions that so many of us have. There is so much information in this book that it is really worth a read.

Would I recommend this to a friend? YES.
Would I read it again? ABSOLUTELY.
Would I go to the cinema to watch the film version? YES AND I'D PLAN A GROUP DISCUSSION FOR AFTERWARDS!

What is Operation Saladin? Why should people be afraid....very afraid?

Find out in The Scorpion, Book 2 in the Daily Express Chronicles. Once again, go behind the headlines for murder, action and romance in this newspaper thriller and sequel to DEADLINE..

I am intrigued by your book, but before buying it would like to know if there is anything in it, covering the "secret" of the Holy Trinity, and whether offering any new interpretation to: the Son, the Father, the holy Spirit.
Thank you in advance

Thriller Off-site, £2.05 on amazon.co.uk Kindle, from $9.35 as paperback on amazon.com:
Off-site
My debut book "Off-site", a humorous investment banking thriller, is out now. It's about a young financial analyst who has to spend her bank holiday weekend doing team-building exercises in her boss' spooky mansion in Cornwall. Sinister things happen at once, and she ends up trapped in a dark room, trying to unravel the mystery - and to escape. See back cover below.
It's available on Kindle on all Amazon sites including .co.uk for £2.05 and also available as paperback on amazon.com (see link - including from a bookseller who ships from UK!).

Many thanks for checking it out!
Best regards,
Marietta Miemietz
Off-site back cover: Aline Alexandre does not relish the prospect of spending the August bank holiday weekend in a secluded spot in Cornwall doing team-building exercises with her glum investment-banking colleagues. What promises to be a dull weekend soon turns into a nightmare. A mystery illness, a narrowly avoided accident, anonymous threats and a gruesome find point to a cat among the pigeons. Could the disconcerting events be connected to a tragedy that took place many years ago on Moorland Manor, the run-down country residence belonging to Aline's line manager, where the group is staying? Before she has a chance to unravel the mystery, she finds herself trapped in a dark room. Suddenly, she has become more dependent on her colleagues than she had ever thought possible in order to reach her most important goal: to get out alive... Off-site is a humorous thriller that keeps up the suspense throughout, until the surprise denouement. It also contains an element of satire on the dysfunctional aspects of corporate life. Set entirely in a picturesque coastal village in England, with all the action taking place over a single weekend, it is intended for readers who like to get thoroughly spooked, but who prefer happy endings.

I specialise in the blatantly obvious and this book contains real life humour, easily relatable and most folk will understand the continual dilemmas in a tale that spans 25 years of yo-yo dieting, punishing and suffering for a cause and a battle that is never won.

I present to you THE FAT BAG stuck between a rock cake & a hard plaice (only £2) which has been described as Bridget-Jones's-Diary-esque (big baggy knickers sadly appropriate), given my dry wit bordering on the ridiculous with a spattering of sarcasm, but also my way of looking at the funny side of a serious aspect of ordinary life.

"I've lost weight hundreds of times; I just can't keep it off " is a familiar cry, and I have been striving to do just that since my teens.

Now, in later years and still battling the bulge, I've put my dieting efforts together and The Fat Bag title is a play on words that resonate throughout the whole book, and includes chapters entitled "This Little Piggie Went to Town", "Not All Menus Are Created Equal", "Who Said Less Is More?" "Whine & Dine" and "My Cup Runneth Over".

But it's not a tale of woe. There are no quick-fixes granted, but the truth is laid bare and people who have read it have pointed out the sheer enjoyment and entertainment factor that I have brought to life.

Many have ..."Been There, Done That & Bulged Out of the Tee Shirt", all forbidden fruit is just so... "Finger-Lickin' Good" but, as the old saying goes ..."What Don't Kill Will Fatten"!

Can you relate to the struggle? Will you be miffed if you find no quick-fix solutions in these musings, or will you applaud someone having the guts to 'tell it like it is' with not a lecture in sight on the very controversial subject about dieting, weight-loss, obesity, and the love of food-glorious-food.

One reviewer said "...there's something for everyone, it takes you on the author's journey and you laugh at the bits that resonate the most with your own experience".

I'm looking for LIKES as well as sales, so if you give it a little love and tag it too when you look, I'd very much appreciate it. Many thanks. CM (aka Author, Pearl Barley).

Outcome, A Novel: There's more than a hurricane coming ... ~ 84,000 words.

"It's hurricane season and Hurricane Ivan is bearing down on Karen Puno as she scrambles to flee to safety with her Labrador Retriever. But that's only the beginning of her troubles. Then there is the problem of harvesting organs for transplant and a cascading medical crisis, two teenagers discovering love amidst a hurricane's destructive course, and the fate of a battered dog almost crushed by the hurricane's debris.

A unique work of fiction by a master storyteller, "Outcome" is a deftly written novel that will engage the reader's total attention from beginning to end, making it highly recommended." The Midwest Book Review

Operation Neurosurgeon: You never know ... who's in the OR. This is a modern romantic suspense - 260 page paperback, approx. 76,000 words. It received a perfect 5 STARS from Red Adept Reviews for characters:

Who says a rising neurosurgeon can't fall from his pinnacle? From the skullduggery taking place deep in the Tennessee woods to the silent tension in the OR, Doctor Danny Tilson's life takes an abrupt turn after performing surgery alongside a scrub nurse with aqua eyes and a velvet voice.

1923: A Memoir Lies and Testaments 77p

"Smith's coming of age memoir takes readers on a journey of poverty and heartbreak that is the author's childhood and young adulthood growing up between the first and second world wars. Smith stays true to himself and his inner voice as he recounts the events of his early life. The narrative flow develops and ages, if you will, as he does throughout the book. It's incredibly powerful to see a precocious child harden under his circumstances and age into an adult set on escaping the ever looming workhouse and empty stomach that seemed to define his childhood. "

It's a personal as well as a social history. Smith has the knack of bringing the times to life in a way that few writers can manage. It's the ability to tell a story, the knowledge of when to move on & not labour a point.--The Bookbag

1923 is a book that succeeds in two ways with ease, both as a personal memoir of a life lived in a volatile age and as a record of that age for all time. --The Current Reader

"1923" is uplifting and highly recommended. --Midwest Book Review

1923: A Memoir is a protest against social injustice, corruption, war, famine, poverty, and societies blinded by greed. More importantly, it is the story of hope and the notion that anything can be overcome if desired. --The Publishing Guru

Smith stays true to himself and his inner voice as he recounts the events of his early life.-Feeding My Book Addiction

Tracers (Timeline Series) 77p
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick Excerpt:
'The apartment has been ransacked. Books, photos, furniture. Everything has been thrown around the room as if someone was looking for a cache of weapons. I go to the phone to call my father's workplace. The receptionist, Sally, who I had met before at barbeques we were invited to, answers the phone.
"Hi this is the Daily Newstand, how may I help you?" she says.
"Hi Sally, it's Jerry Daniels, I'm wondering if you could put me through to my father," I say. There is a long pause on the other end. I start gnashing on my nails anxiously.
After a minute she speaks again. "I'm sorry, who is your father?"
"Richard. Richard Daniels."
She starts typing at the computer. "I'm sorry; no one named Richard Daniels has ever worked here before. Can I help you with anything else?"
The phone drops to the floor as my hand falls by my side. The back of my head starts pounding as the world spins around me. My eyes start to close. The world goes black.'

Who Am I?
--------------------------

My name is Jerry Daniels. I'm nineteen years old... or at least I am for now.

Two years ago my parents went missing. I went to the police, FBI, private investigators... everyone. But I got told the same story... that they had never existed.

A year ago, I had some trouble at school. It's not exactly easy to fit in when everyone thinks you're a nut-job who created a set of 'imaginary parents.' The school counsellor suggested I seek some 'help' or whatever. But I'm not crazy... I'm not.

Yesterday, I had my high school graduation ceremony... or at least I think it was yesterday. I've been losing track of time lately. To tell you the truth... Yesterday I went into the future and as crazy as it sounds it's all true, believe me.

Today, I finally started training to control my abilities. Everyone says I'm a 'Royal'... some sort of prodigy. All I care about is finding my parents.

I just got word that they're after me. I haven't had long to train, it's all instinct from here on out. 'Death' is coming, 'la morte' or 'Morters' as they like to be called. Tomorrow... they will test me. Tomorrow... I fight for my life.

Where Dreams Are Born, on Kindle or in print from a small publisher.

It was supposed to be a win-win situation-a safe environment in which to raise a son for single mom Vicky, housekeeping and childcare for widowed Jack. Neither one wants or expects anything more. But when Jack learns his best friend fathered Vicky's son and now wants partial custody, he feels threatened. He's come to care deeply for both, and doesn't want to lose the family they've become. In desperation he offers a radical solution-marriage. Vicky knows she can do worse than marry Jack, but wonders how successful their marriage would be when its only reason for being was to keep from losing her son. Add to this a troubled child with a secret about her dead mother and a vindictive ex bent on revenge, and complications abound.

Where Dreams are Born

"Joyce DeBacco does a really good job of getting the reader invested in the outcome of this unusual pairing. Enjoy." S. Wurman of Night Owl Reviews.
