Engineered Murder is a mystery set in the U.S.'s mid-west city of Wichita, KS. Wichitans claim their city is the 3rd windiest city in the U.S. They also claim the title of the Air Capitol of the World because of the number of aircraft businesses there. Hi everyone

A Gathered Radiance
Here's a five star review of my novel:
I really enjoyed this book.
The characters were so well realized - they seem like people you could know, have met down the pub for a drink.
Their situations are cleverly wrought, pitching them straight into trouble in a variety of situations that become more complex and threatening as the story progresses.
I had a real empathy with the two main characters particularly, and found myself really scared for them - I can't say why without spoiling the plot, but suffice to say these two individuals are in for a world of hurt! The plot gripped me, even more so as the pace of the story accelerated towards the end. There was a twist a didn't see coming that had me gripping the Kindle, and kept me reading way past the time I should have gone to sleep. It's quite a long book so it kept me occupied for several nights, but managed this without any boring bits - there wasn't a point when I could comfortably knock it off for the night without lying there, wondering what was coming next.
A page turner, definitely.
And as a debut novel, all the more impressive - relaxed, flowing prose that kept me firmly involved in the story. The odd misplaced comma doesn't deter me in recommending this book whole-heartedly. A 5-star bargain! Enjoy.

Latest title from Charles Shea is his best yet. Fantastic 'to the point' fiction.
Good development of former characters and a strong no nonsense story line.
For me this series can not be written fast enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant

This review is from: The Shrunken Head Murders (The Detective "Brick" Brikler Series #1) (Kindle Edition)
I loved his first book, and I loved this one too. Wonderfully clever story construction with strong, totally believable characters. And with that twist that sets a really top class story apart from the also-rans.
I don't want to go into any more detail for fear of giving away the plot, so I'll just say...don't miss this book. At the price, its a give-away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Defending Evil
By W. Macpherson
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was a new author to me and as it turned out - one I will look for again in the future! This was a great read and had me guessing throughout! The twist at the end was great! For less than a pound on Kindle this was a very good buy that I would really recommend!

I hope you'll take a look at these:

Defending Evil (The Travis Knight Series #1)

The Shrunken Head Murders (The Detective "Brick" Brikler Series #1)

Hellfire Vengeance (The Travis Knight Series #2)

Thanks,

Charles

Gaspar The Thief

By British author, David A. Lindsay, Gaspar The Thief is a fast-paced, humorous, fantasy adventure involving thieves, brigands, sell-swords, goblins and wizards.

"This is a super read, page turner with unsuspected twists. First class for this genre."

"Gaspar was not your normal hero. He was a normal man with maybe more bad sides than good ones. And I loved him for it. His impeccable sense of humour only added to his appeal."

"Solid editing and well written."

If fantasy's your thing and you're a young adult (or have the mind of one) why not try Path of Heroes (Journeys)?

It's cheap, it's not too long, and it's built in the mould of the classic fantasies of yesteryear, with an emphasis on characterisation.

Maryland In The Civil War - yes, we've all enjoyed "Gone With The Wind," but what really happened during the American Civil War? Hee is the story as told from the perspective of a crucial border state. Had Maryland joined the Confederacy, the federal capital Washington would have been surrounded. See how close that came to taking place!
This fall marks the 150th anniversary fo Lee's first invasion of Maryland. It ended near the small town of Sharpsburg, Maryland, now known as the Battle of A ntietam. Why didn't Marylanders rise to join Lee, as widely expected? And was McClellan really the timid field commander that history recalls?

Here's what readers say about Look Away Silence

"The depth of the characters and their story is an important tale that transcends gender and race, highlighting a time that had and continues to have devastating effects. The title is so appropriate and fitting to the characters and the topics. Be sure to have some tissues handy as Martin's story is sure to move you to tears numerous times while also giving laughter, love, joy, and happiness beside the sorrow. This is one story that will resonate for a very long after the incredibly beautiful final page." - Rainbow Reviews

"Look Away Silence is a beautifully written, intensely emotional novel. The characters are three dimensional and wonderfully flawed. Best of all, Patterson's narrative manages to zoom in on this tragic couple's love and life, then to zoom out on an entire hurting community, and back again without resorting to soapboxing." - R.J. Keller

"This is a love story that has been experienced many times over by 'everyman'. Beautifully written by amazing author Edward C. Patterson, based on his experiences volunteering in community service and personal friendship. It is a powerful read." - ellen george, Amazon Top 1000 Reviewer

"Even with the sad story, Mr. Patterson is a funny and engaging writer and I found this book hard to put down -- always a sign of a five-star read for me. Highly recommended." - Leslie Nichol

"With this work Patterson is in league with Armistead Maupin! Itt's an emotional story told in a light hearted way, it never turns into a soap." - Mireille Reynes

"Look Away Silence by Edward C. Patterson is a beautifully written novel. Honestly, I'm not sure I can write a review that will do it justice. Few books can touch such a strong emotional chord and I would put Look Away Silence up there with books by Nicholas Sparks such as The Notebook. Well done Mr. Patterson, well done indeed." - Todd Fonseca, TMBOA.com

"To say Look Away Silence is heart-wrenching is an injustice. This story will double-fist-grab your entire body from the very beginning and may never loosen its grip. Which is apt. We must never forget." - Tracy Francis

"I have admired Patterson's novels for some time now, but honestly believe this one to be his best. Inspiring, though-provoking and, yes -- one that will make you cry." - Sharon E. Cathcart

"I did not know what to expect from this book and was blown away by the intensity and depth of emotion it provoked. Beautiful writing, a compelling story and lesson after lesson on the power and importance of compassion. Mr Patterson has made me think and taken me out of my narrow and protected world. I can ask no more from a book. We are all Bimbos on the same bus. I'm glad I've taken a ride with Mr. Patterson. " - Lynn Bough

"To say that the last half of the book rocked my emotional world is not doing it justice. I can't begin to give this author enough credit for writing so well that even once I knew this wasn't going to be a happy ending I finished it. I have to admit - I was up half the night finishing it and up the rest of the night sobbing . . ." Riya at GoodReads

America's Unknown Wars - five American wars, two of which were fought under the British flag. They aren't well known, but they have lessons to teach today!

As one reader puts it, "Mr. Shepard entertainingly examines five unknown wars in our history, emphasizing the why and wherefore of each war. These wars had an influence on our history and our choice of leaders which seems to be ignored in the history books.
In chronological order they are:
King Philip's War, when colonial Massachusetts was almost totally destroyed.
The French and Indian War which concluded King Philip's War, produced George Washington as a military leader, and led to the Revolution.
The War of 1812 where the English torched our White House before we turned the tide of the war toward victory, and gained a national perspective.
The Mexican War which culminated in the annexation of Texas to the USA, and possibly led to the Civil War.
The Spanish-American War and the Philippine Insurrection which directly flowed from it, and led to our present age of far flung international commitments.
Mr. Shepard's book skillfully tells the "real story" of each of the wars and their consequences . His writing style is very readable. I enjoyed the book very much. You will, too!"
