Duende captures the teeming philosophical and artistic debates taking Europe by storm during the 1920s and '30s. In Spain, vicious religious and political conflicts gave rise to one of the most brutal civil wars on record.
Spain's spiralling descent into chaos and destruction is the landscape in which two artists, Nayo (a painter) and José (a philosopher) fall in love and together wrestle with the duende, the force within art that evokes the essential experience of life in the face of the dread certainty of death.
Many of their friends, including Salvador Dalí, Ortega y Gasset and, most crucially, Federico García Lorca, are struggling with the same issue while violence escalates across their country.
Set in Spain, 1900-1936, Duende is the story of two men whose love emerges in a hostile climate in which innovative ideas are increasingly suffocated by sheer brute force.

Here are some critical responses to the novel:
'This book is not only a beautifully written evocation of a pivotal moment and place in history - Spain just before the 1936 civil war - it is a memory of what might have been in the dreams of the great churning artists of the time.'

'Duende is an incredibly ambitious novel for a debut. What could have been a "simple" love story is so much more than that, rewarding the reader with a rollercoaster of a ride through the turbulent 30s of Spain's history, together with an overview of the prevalent artistic and philosophical movements of the day. This is a delightful, stimulating and informative read on every level. Oh, and what an ending.'

'I have yet to read a better evocation of this tragic period of Spain's history. What a magical tour de force. Duende indeed!'

At the request of Laura García Lorca, Duende has now been placed in the library of the Fundación Federico García Lorca, Madrid.

I'd love to know what anybody else thinks of my novel and thanks for giving me the opportunity to share my work here :)

Sliding Past Ugly
Sliding Past Ugly

At 103 Stellar Street there was never much peace, a little bit of love, not enough happiness, but it is, in fact, home for eighteen-year-old Frances "Frankie" McKay. With high school graduation two weeks to never again, her life is about to change. No more days enduring the callow drama, no more working for her stubborn Grandma Frances at the Bar & Grill, and no more playing cook and maid to her alcoholic father and older brothers, all of whom work hard at the mine by day and play hard at the bar by night.

Frankie grew up quick with only a few certainties in life. She is certain the reason her father is an alcoholic goes beyond the fact that their mother left them. She is certain that her feelings for her best friend, Paul, go beyond mere friendship. And she is certain that happiness cannot be found in Minersville, at least that's what she thought. Joy and sadness find Frankie as the past is revealed, questions are answered, life is lost and love is found.

Mending Ugly
Mending Ugly (The sequel to Sliding Past Ugly Book 2)

Life in the small mining community of Minersville is finally at ease for Frankie McKay. Her wedding date draws near, and the McKay brood has come together-for once portraying a family. But when tragedy abruptly strikes, Frankie, Pop, her brothers, and her fiance, Paul, are tossed into the ugliness of the past.

After a twenty year absence their mother appears, and the wretched truth is exposed. A truth that could be the family's undoing. As Pop declares, "Facts are a stubborn thing." With the facts on the table, can they push through the heartache of the past? Or is the truth too much to bear?

Read along and enjoy the boorish, abrasive, and brash antics of a family who are unapologetically, the McKays.

A. Vaz says:
Nothing or nobody can prove if God exists or not. Something exists because somebody or another thing created it. The profound question if God exists is persistently queried but the ultimate question "Who or what created God is seldom examined." The question can repeat eternally until somebody or something stops the infinite regress.
The Reality Bible is a collection of incredible contemplations, over three decades, outside theological, philosophical, and scientific theoretical knowledge. The work employs nine discovered natural laws and rethinks everything.
The Reality Bible: Revealing God And Everything reveals:
* The First Cause
* Why How And Where God Exists
* The Eternal Infinite Steady Universe
* The Origins Endurance And Inevitable Ends Of Everything
Breakthrough revelations refute scientific thinking; unravels troubling theories, mysteries, puzzles, and resolves unimaginable and never asked queries. The extraordinary book falsifies concepts "creation," "causation," "beginnings," and "entities".

Fascinating revelations end arguments between theists, atheists, evolutionists, and creationists.
Unique information evoking shock, surprise, and relief also gratifies fiction readers searching mysteries, fantasy, thrills, and suspense.

I can hear them singing now

Written by a former war correspondent and international photojournalist.

Set in the 1980s at the height of political unrest in South Africa's black townships, this is the riveting story of a policeman, caught between two worlds and forced to make a terrible choice that could have catastrophic consequences.
It is a universal story of a man and his family's desperate struggles when they must face a crisis and from which there appears no escape.
You will not be able to put this book down and will not soon forget.

Many subplots intertwine within one another as the story builds in a fast paced action filled climb. Follow along while all is unraveled as the book reaches its climax.

A Newsman in the throws of war and espionage, must endure tumultuous hardships as he discovers some hidden truths. A serial killer will take you into the heart of his crimes, where he desperately tries to lose you within those deep recesses. Fear for your life with our valiant heroine as she is stalked by this imbalanced individual, uniquely camouflaged within the confines of a seemingly average man. And lastly, be a part of the mental anguish that must be endured, as life altering events are heavily pressed upon the shoulders of one who must act for many.

I enjoyed reading this book and I think you will also.

If quality matters more than locale, please pick up a sample of So Wonderful as Want.

The year is 1911, and young Dinah dreams of marrying a gentleman and living the grand life in nearby Fort Myers, Florida. Once a rowdy cow town rivaling those of the old west, Fort Myers now boasts indoor plumbing and electricity, conveniences sorely lacking in her small river town.

Zach also has a dream. At eighteen, he wants to be his own man and go his own way. But when tragedy strikes Dinah's family, his soft heart won't allow him to walk away. Assuming responsibilities beyond his years, he's there through every joy, every sorrow in her life.

Years later, although Zach's dreams now center around the family he and Dinah share, Dinah steadfastly holds tight to her childhood dream. Foolishly believing it easer to leave should the opportunity arise, she won't allow any words of love between them. She wants it all; all Zach wants is her.

Opportunity finally arrives with Tyler, a shrewd businessman who's had his eye on her. Now, Dinah must choose between a man who can make her dreams come true, or a man whose only offense is loving her.

So Wonderful as Want

"I was hooked after only the first few pages. The main character made many choices that I did not expect, resulting in several twists and turns in the story. Many heartbreaking events happen which make her an even stronger woman in the end. Enjoyable read!"
