An Unbreakable Bond & To Catch a Dream - Readers help needed

Hello, from the author of the above. I am engaged in writing the final chapter of the trilogy. My question to you is, how much of the back story do you like included when reading the next book of a trilogy. Bearing in mind it may have been sometime since you read the first two in the series?

My dilemma comes from wanting to make sure if a new reader picks up the third book first, I give them enough information to enable them to enjoy the novel as a whole. But, I don't want to bore the reader who has already followed me.

I didn't experience this problem with the writing of - To Catch a Dream - as it was a prequel so there was no back story to tell, which the reader would already know.

The writing of - Tomorrow Brings Sorrow - the third and final book in the series, is well under way, and I am hoping to keep to my deadline of July for the publishing, so your comments on the above would be most welcome.

Also can report the paperback of - To Catch a Dream - is only a couple of weeks away, waiting with baited breath for the publisher to send my sample copy so I can sign it off.

Other news is, I have a draft outline completed of my fourth novel - Time Passes Time - A poignant and yet, thrilling story of a war time heroine who is re-living her nightmare past through her altzimer flashbacks and a young girl who re-unites her with the child of her lost son. The writing of it makes me cry for the sad events as well as for the grit and courage many of our elderly folk showed in their younger years, and how they are still suffering the effects.

Lastly, thank you all for your support. You are all very dear to me, much love, Mary xxx Mary Wood

News update; Wonderful sales today have shot, An Unbreakable Bond back into third place - brilliant, and welcome to my new readers, hope you enjoy.

To Catch a Dream, still in the top 20!

Very proud of both books success.

Love Mary

You will probably get different replies for this question. Personally I don't like to read too much of the last book, some authors have devoted almost a chapter to updating the "what went on before" A brief summary would be good, and if its someone who hasn't read the first book mention about there is an earlier book before reading that one?? maybe?

Thanks, Sue, good advice, haven't been here as I didn't recieve an email as to there being a reply, sorry about that, didn't mean to seem rude or ungrateful. Am rattling along with the book now and I have done as you suggested, the odd reference here and there to the past, and in the front of the book make it clear it is the third book of the trilogy, but can be read as a book on its own. Lots of love Mary xxx
