Does anybody know which laptops have international/global warranty as standard?

I plan to buy a laptop on amazon.co.uk and will be taking it to India as a gift to cousin, so want to go for a product which comes with an international/global warranty.

My reading through the product information indicates that some HP and Samsung laptop have international warranty. If some one knows about this please share the information.

Asus offer a standard 2 year global warranty on their notebooks. Once you have registered your notebook on their member site you also have the option of extending the global warranty for a third year, current price £65.

Many thanks for the reply. After some research I found that Samsung offer a 1 year international warranty and purchased Samsung RV 511 (i3 processor, 3 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD) on Amazon for £378.

It would be good to know which brands offer international warranty as lot of people regularly travel around the globe.

According to HP website all HP/Compaq laptops except the Pressario range have international warranty. Toshiba provides EMA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) warranty. Best to find out from people who have purchased recently. I had tried to get this information but no definite information was available either from the manufacturers (customer service) or Amazon. In the end after checking the fine print on website, I ordered a Samsung, on the laptop there was a sticker which said it had international warranty. I don't know how good is the warranty if you try to claim the warranty another country.

Hi guys,
Just to contribute to the discussion. I've been on the phone with Asus just now and they said that mostly all units purchased in the UK would come with a global 1 year warranty, however some of the units have only a local one. They advised to check with the retailer. In my case the retailer is Amazon and they've advised me to check with the manufacturer. The Asus though would only be able to provide you with detailed information on a particular unit upon provision of the unit's serial number which you obviously get when you buy the item. :)
