"If it sounds too good to be true ...."

I'm still looking for the catch on this one. If you are an existing Amazon customer and visit and enter the code AZDM01 they appear to be offering a 30 day free trial plus a £20 Amazon gift voucher.

Better double check all the weasel words, but ... CW

Amazon bought Lovefilm several months ago. They promote like hell and give some serious deals. Vouchers/Nectar points etc. The trial is absolutely genuine. But cancellation is a bit of a pain. You can register all online, but they won't let you cancel without a phone call to finalise. If I recall accurately, the number is freephone, but there are some restrictions on hours.

I recently did it and yes I think the only catch is that they make it slightly difficult to cancel. I'm happy watching a few DVDs at the moment.

i'm already with tesco dvd rental which is powered by lovefilm. so i'm not eligible, but believe me, nothing is difficult to do, cancelling, taking holidays, letting them know about problems etc.
have been thrilled with service, have had a couple of damaged discs. send them an email, you get a proper reply, an apology, an immediate replacement and quite often they'll add an extra disc to your month as an apology. the only cs i've come accross as good as amazon (prob because they are anazon)

hi does anyone know how to sign up to free 30 day trial and get a £20 pound amazon voucher as all the sites ive tried are not working or excepting it. thanks.

Posted on 30 Oct 2011 10:10:19 GMT
Hi I put in the address as stated on my letter, but all the sites are not offering the same as stipulated on the letter I recieved which is 30 days free trial of Lovefilm and a £20 voucher for Amazon once the fist film is dispatched, however all the offers I can find are saying only £10.00 Amazon vouchers, I am sure there is something I must be doing but cant figure it out for the life of me, anyone got any ideas.

Its very easy to cancel. A simple email to their CS will do it, they reply in a matter of hrs too.

Natch! I tried to use the code but because I was a customer of theirs a few years ago, they won't let me use this code. I cancelled my old account three or four years ago. :0(

Thanks for the info anyway CW - I'm sure there are lots who will benefit.

The weird thing is - I used to be a member of amazon's own rental service but then they closed it and moved my account to lovefilm. Now they've bought them out? Or was it an amazon company when they closed their own rental service, I wonder...?

@YAK: There are terms and conditions at the very foot of my letter. Sadly I can not read them as they are in too fine a print. I did just do the stuff on the letter and it does seem to have registered 30 day trial and £20 voucher. I don't know if the fine print includes a contact number for them, but maybe give them a call on monday and see if they can sort it out? Fingers crossed, CW.

No, Kew, it was not an amazon company when amazon closed their own dvd rental. Its a fairly recent purchase (maybe 18 months ago, Im not quite sure)

Amazon closed their own as it was losing so much money and "sold" their customers to love film who were trouncing all other film rental sites.

You can easily quality for these deals by using a different email address. Maybe edit your name slightly to use a middle initial etc.

I've had loads of love film free trials and gifts..... :)

Thanks JH - we actually have a different address from the last time that I joined, so it should be quite easy to do! It does seem unfair not to allow past users to access this deal.

If you sign up at and follow their link to lovefilm you will not only get all of the above (ie free trial, £20 voucher) but also £7.57 cash back.

EDIT - btw it ends today!

I'm afraid I do "play the game" with them a bit......

I recently left them after a three month free trial that they posted to everyone in my block. A week after leaving, they emailed me to say I could have membership for three months for the price of one, so I've done that. Meaning I've paid one months subscription for six months worth of rental.

Good news daphne, I recently had a bad disc and they did replace that without any issues whatsoever.

I know Lovefilm used to have a bad reputation, I was a customer of Amazon's DVD rental service many years ago and when they sold out to Lovefilm I immediately cancelled. I only even thought about joining this time as it's under the Amazon 'umbrella' otherwise no offer would have enticed me.

Thanks bluecat. Signed up through Topcashback. I think the offer finishes today. Just have to remember to cancel. But thanks again love the idea of a £20 Amazon Voucher to spend, have already thought of a few books to one click. Hurrahhhhhh

Owned says:
I thought that might be the case, Kew. I recall trialling LoveFilm back in 2005 (three years before Amazon began acquiring their business), so presumably I am not eligible for this trial.

Owned says:
Btw, just to resolve some of the confusion above: Amazon actually acquired the LoveFilm DVD rental business back in 2008, and this made them the biggest shareholder in the company. Although other venture capital firms have stakes, Amazon took full control of the company in January this year.

IF i have read it right i think you only get the £20 voucher when the free trial ends and you have paid your first £9.99p

In reply to an earlier post on 30 Oct 2011 17:38:25 GMT
bluecat says:
I think you may be right, though the t&cs are not completely clear as it talks about "1st payment for the 1st month" when the first month is actually fee. It also mentions a 14 day trail to add to the confusion! I plan on emailing them in a couple of weeks and asking them to clarify. Even if I have to pay £9.99, I figured the £7.50 cashback and £20 voucher will more than make up for it.
