Try this search

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=mifi

Mine is an earlier version of http://www.amazon.co.uk/Unlocked-Huawei-Wireless-Broadband-Modem/dp/B005LDRP18/ref%3Dsr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1353881689&sr=8-3 which I can put almost any sim card in. I don't travel overseas so I can't comment on roaming charges.

Sorry I have never heard of milf. Mifi allows you to create your own hot spot when away from home; mobile wifi!

thanks for the info. I have been to Currys to pick their brains. I will give it some thought. I need it mostly when abroad as I find we are well served in UK with free wifi.
Probably get one like yours!

Pop into somewhere like "Three" and see what they can offer you. Their website has a lot of information too.

Edited to add that if 1 GB per month is sufficient (it is for me) it's actually 20p per month cheaper to have Pay as You Go than a monthly contract.

I bought a 3 mifi dongle a couple of years ago when they first came out and unblocked it myself via the internet (I assume you can get it unblocked on a market stall etc for a small fee if you cant suss out how to do it yourself) I bought a compatible payg sim card in Cyprus and top it up as and when I need to and use the ipad, phones, laptop, kindle etc in our house there (we dont have internet connection) But when Im out and about abroad (not just Cyprus) I use the free wifi which is available much more than in the UK and download books on my kindle that way too.

Forgot to mention that my iphone 5( unlimited downloads) is great for tethering so when Im out and about in the UK I can download books on my kindle via that

Denis, if you want to use a mifi device abroad with a UK SIM card you will be using roaming data, which is very expensive. For example Three charge between 70p and £10 per MB depending on what country you are in.

Denis Powell says:
My MiFi is unlocked so I can use any Sim card, but for UK use Three is hard to beat. I found a card that gave me 3 months use at 1 GB per month for just under £15 but it was a "one off" although it proves the value of having an unlocked device.
