No, Imported Kindle Fire (2nd Generation) & Kindle Fire HD device as of now are still US only devices.

You should have full functionality for the UK AppStore once the devices start shipping in the UK.

have you any idea when that might be?

how soon after this do you think apps may be available

Unfortunately we don't know. We'll have to wait till Amazon gives an update about it.

Denis Powell says:
Mrs. Whittle, the UK Appstore is up and running and I've already downloaded a couple of games and two apps to my Asus Tablet. I'm sure that as soon as the new UK Fires are registered to our accounts the Appstore will show on it. I already have some content queued for delivery to mine as it's showing in Manage Your Devices.

OP is referring to imported Kindle Fire (2nd) and Kindle Fire HD which are still requiring a US Credit Card and Billing Address at the moment,

Denis Powell says:
Yes, and that aspect has been covered in previous posts. The Amazon Appstore is up and running so there's no reason to expect there to be any delay in availability on the new Fires. Unfortunately Amazon Customer Services are giving conflicting opinions on whether or not the new "US Only" Fires will work fully on the UK store although I see no reason why they shouldn't.

My US fire still does not work in the UK due to the US CC issue? When will this be rectified?

Doesn't work if you're in the UK as you cannot download any amazon apps due to the country payment restriction?

If you have Kindle Fire 1st that was released last year, that remained a US only device so you will have to side load.

If you've imported Kindle Fire 2nd and or Kindle Fire HD, you will have full functionality once the devices start shipping in the UK.

You are kidding right? Do you mean to say that, after waiting more than a year for the Uk app store, I still won't be able to use it on my 1st gen fire? How rubbish is that!!

Sarah O says:
You can side-load apps to use. You can't expect it to work in the UK as it was never intended to be used here. Unfortunately that's what you get when you buy a US import - no license to download apps. Google side-loading onto Fire US and that will help you.

Denis Powell says:
Amazon Customer Services have given conflicting opinions on this so I think we just have to wait until the Fire is actually released here before we'll know for sure. Unfortunately you bought your 1st Generation Fire as US-Only and even US owners can't download apps when out of the country. I wish you luck with it however. You should know towards the end of next week.

A. Vermeire says:
I don't agree with you, Miss Ord, and would like to make you see the errors in your response, but to be honest, I don't really want to get into a "forum argument" :-). Thanks for your side-loading suggestion.

I hope that Amazon will realise that they are missing revenue by not fixing it. If all the articles are to be believed, they are not making any money from the sale of the devices, so allowing me and my fellow non-US 1st gen fire owners to buy apps from their non-US appstore seems no-brainer. I wait with bated breath.

Sarah O says:
Disagreeing with me does not make me wrong, we merely have differing opinions. Short answer is wait and see. They might open functionality for you, they might not. It's entirely up to Amazon.

"Mine"?
Is that the 8.9" version available in the US? Or the current Fire available in the US? Or the original Fire that was always designed to only work in the US?
