Can I put my own music on Kindle Fire HD without using the Cloud as I have more than 250 songs and do not wish to pay for storage to Cloud.

A. Dietz says:
Sure, just copy the MP3 files to the music folder and they'll show up on the Device tab in the music section.

Denis Powell says:
If you've bought the songs from Amazon they should appear in the Cloud anyway.

Chances are very high: no.

You MIGHT find an Android app that provides connectivity... which might be in the Amazon store... but I don't know of one.
You might be able to find a different messenger IM product that provides connectivity to Windows / Live Messenger, and use that.

Your best bet: make use of Skype, as that certainly will in the future (and probably does now) provide the connectivity required.

Microsoft are phasing out Messenger during the first quarter of 2013 in favour of Skype, so I doubt there'll be much support for Messenger now.

windows messenger is soon going to disappear and they are moving it to skype.

Can I import a CD into a Kindle Fire HD without a PC?
Can an external hard drive be used on a Kindle Fire HD?

In reply to an earlier post on 21 Mar 2013 18:35:06 GMT
Denis Powell says:
You have to convert the CD tracks to mp3 and you'll need a computer for that.

You can't connect an external hard drive to a Fire but you can copy files Wirelessly if you have a WiDrive such as Kingston Technology 32GB Portable Storage Wi-Drive

R. Edwards says:
I tried that and put a few cd's in the sync section of my windows media player but only one of them showed on the Device? since then I've tried others and nothing doing.

ChrisJ says:
Are you sure they were .MP3 files?
Windows Media Player might not produce .MP3 normally, and will need some of its settings changed to do it.

Denis Powell says:
Did you drag and drop them from your computer to the music folder on your Fire? Syncing won't do it.

Thanks - I will check this out.

R. Edwards says:
No, I tried syncing them. I will try what you said. I guess I'll get there eventually.
Many thanks.

I can drag and drop easily enough but can find the music on my Kindle HD?!?!

In reply to an earlier post on 8 May 2013 08:43:38 BDT
Denis Powell says:
Syncing does nothing more than check with your Amazon Account to see if you have any new purchases or deletions together with last page read etc., it doesn't trigger downloads for anything other than new book purchases.

If you drag and drop music into the Music Folder and can't see it the most likely cause is that it's not in MP3 format. By default Windows Media Player rips CDs to .wma format and not MP3 - could that be what's happened to you? If it is and you still have the CDs it may be best to re-rip them to MP3s rather than converting the .wma files.
