Don't think you can do anything with itv player, (but will keep a check on this thread to see if we can!) BBC iplayer, you need to download the free app. Easily found from the Amazon app shop, and I've found works perfectly well.

Do you need to do it from your Kindle or PC?

Denis Powell says:
You can only use the App Store on the Fire or Fire HD, not via a PC.

Yes, when you install the BBC iPlayer you should have been prompted to install the BBC Media Player too. The iPlayer uses the Media player instead of Flash.

You might also like to try thr app "TVcatchup" (no space) which gives live TV from a large number of channels (Unfortunately not ITVNetplayer C4OD etc.)

Thanks Ill give it a try

I am not sure on the Fire, but on the Surface the app called "TVcatchup" is much better described as "liveTVnow"!
It shows what is on now, across many different channels, but it doesn't allow the catch-up to view things you have missed.

Thanks Chris will take a look later at which apps are available

Thanks for pointing out TVCatchup. I hadn't found this one and imo, the biggest weakness of the Kindle Fire at the moment is TV services and this app works well, even on my slow internet connection.

I'm sure that the issues with TV services will be sorted; especially with the terrific quality of the display on the Fire.

You must remember that the fire has only been available in this county since October. If I was an apps developer I would be waiting to see how popular it was before I invested time and money in developing apps for it.

Can anyone explain if you can connect Wi Fi out and about not just at home on your own router with the Fire HD?
Obviously you can connect to your own Wi Fi whilst in the house but I wanted to know if it is possible to connect away from home as it says in description that no Ad Hoc connection can be made.

Denis Powell says:
You can connect your Fire to any WiFi hotspot for which you have a password, so it can be used in places like Waterstones, Whetherspoons and MacDonalds. If you have mobile phone that can be used as a WiFi Hotspot your Fire should connect to that, or you could buy a MiFi device and create your own 3G hotspot whereever you can receive a 3G signal. Expect to pay around 10 per month for 1GB of data and PAYG Sim Card.

There are millions of people with BT WiFi. When you see one of those WiFi as available, you can connect to it and then pay for the day or for a few days. This can work well for certain circumstances...

Thanks Chris. I keep forgetting that. I have my Broadband from BT and often forget that I can connect to any BT Hotspot free of charge.

I have searched and searched for the iplayer app on Amazon and it still remains elusive! Can anyone please post a direct link to the Iplayer and BBC media Player apps? Many thanks.

Are you searching Amazon or the appstore? They are two completely different things!

In reply to an earlier post on 2 Jan 2013 21:25:21 GMT
Are you accessing the apps store from the kindle or from the amazon website? I found it immediately when I went via the store button on the app page. You will also need to download the BBC media player to make the iplayer work.

In reply to an earlier post on 2 Jan 2013 22:14:48 GMT
Yes this is the problem I had at the begining of this I was looking in amazon as opposed to on the Kindle under Apps then once in go to - Store , once in here you search for iplayer
