I have uploaded some .mobi files on my cloud drive. but looking now in my kindle "doc" folder and click on "cloud" i cannot see them. do i have to synchronise it? did i miss something?

Denis Powell says:
It may be easier to email them to your Fire and then Amazon will automatically store them in the Cloud for you, plus they'll be listed in Manage Your Kindle.

but what is the sense of the cloud drive then?

In reply to an earlier post on 8 Jan 2013 20:58:30 GMT
Denis Powell says:
I just like an easy life.

One email, 10 books, all then stored in the Cloud, automatically sent to the specified device and showing in the Cloud/Archive of all the others. Why do the work yourself when Amazon will do it all for you?

actually good point

but is there any reason for the files not showing up on the kindle device (I am looking in the "doc" folder under "cloud")?

Denis Powell says:
As I had a .com account before I had a .co.uk account some of my personal documents are stored in the .com cloud and won't show on my Fire or Paperwhite as a result.

Books are okay because I've sent all my non Amazon books to my devices either by email or using "Send to Kindle for PC".

I understood that only the books that I had obtained from Amazon would be stored in the Cloud. For instance I have downloaded several books from manybooks.net and non of these are available to me on the Cloud.

Do I understand that if I had managed to email them to the Kindle, that a copy would have been made?

In reply to an earlier post on 8 Jan 2013 21:48:58 GMT
Denis Powell says:
Eric, any documents and non-Amazon ebooks emailed to devices, or sent using "Send to Kindle for PC" will automatically be saved by Amazon in the Personal Documents section of Manage Your Kindle and will be available for download to any and all devices on your account.

Hi Folks,

I think your looking in the wrong folder. Try looking under the books section and you will have 2 books sub headings Cloud and Device. The book that have been downloaded to the device will be store under the device. the others will be stored on the cloud.

I hope that helps you.

Mall the best,

Joe, all the non-Amazon ebooks I have in the Amazon Cloud only show in the "Docs" Cloud tab and not in the "Books" Cloud tab.

Hi Dennis,

It's is because amazon does not recognise them as their own books you have downloaded from the store. So they get placed into the personal documents folder, which I believe can hold up to 5gb of data on the cloud.

I have my daily paper sent by email every day and its stored in the personal documents folder. As Amazon does not send me this.

I hope this helps.

Joe, yes I understand how it works - it's exactly the same as Manage Your Kindle.

I was responding to your statement:

"I think your looking in the wrong folder. Try looking under the books section and you will have 2 books sub headings Cloud and Device. The book that have been downloaded to the device will be store under the device. the others will be stored on the cloud."

That wasn't correct for non-Amazon ebooks which are the subject of this thread, as they don't appear in the Books tab.

I have never heard of books being deleted "automatically".
I have often heard of people not being able to find the books they want...

When you say "deleted", do you mean from your library at Manage Your Kindle on the website?? Or do you mean from the device?

I've never had a book deleted that I hadn't myself deleted.

Are these books ones which you bought some time ago? It's not unusual for people to set up a new Amazon account by accident and this lose access to the books purchased on the older account.

Mrs. Heard, we don't know which device your husband has. Is it a Kindle? If so, which model? Is it an app on a tablet? If so, which Tablet?

And... where did he get the books from? How did he download them? Where did he put them?

K. A. Newton says:
If your husband's has bought the books and downloaded from Amazon they should be in your library/Cloud list on your Manage My Kindle page (Link is on your Accounts page).

If they are on the list in Manage My Kindle - then the home list on your Kindle may be set on "Collections" and any books not in collections follow them in the list of books on your device. Changing the setting to "Recent" brings the new books to the front of the list.

Please come back and give we helpers a bit more information.

I got a kindle paperwhite for Xmas and got a disc with books from either ePub or mobi books from a friend. I plugged my kindle in to the laptop and updated it with the books but I cannot find them on my kindle. I logged onto manage my account and they are no anywhere to be found. Has anyone else experienced this or know how to resolve it?

In reply to an earlier post on 13 Jan 2014 17:28:41 GMT
Denis Powell says:
Firstly, if you copied via USB those book won't be in the Cloud. Amazon only stores ebooks in the Cloud for you if you use the Personal Document Service or the Send to Kindle app.

Are the books on the disc pirated copies? If not, they're likely to be Public Domain ebooks, in which case they're likely to available free of charge from Amazon anyway. If they are Pirated I'm not prepared to help.
