CBRetriever says:
well, if you've ever bought anything from using the same email as your account, the Kindle Fire will, as is legally correct, default to the Kindle Store of the country in which you reside.

however, as you will only be able to get apps and videos from, you might want to stay on that account.

as long as you know where to go for books and apps you should be OK there

under Kindle: eBooks en idiomas extranjeros - inglés will get you to the ebooks in english

Tienda Apps para Android - Apps e juegos takes you to apps

the only other optiion, legally, to you is to create an account on and use that for books and get apps from goodereader, 1mobile or getjar like I'm doing

Hi, I live in Spain and I have just bought a new Kindle Fire from the U.K. My Amazon account is set up fine so is my wifi connection. So I can log into Amazon without any problem, however when I try to enter the book store I find that everything is in written Spanish and not English, can anybody help me sort this out?

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Dec 2012 17:42:44 GMT
Hi Duffy
I have the same problem, could you please let me know what Tony the GR8 guy told you as it seems it would sort my problem as well?

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Dec 2012 17:45:04 GMT
Denis Powell says:
You can browse using your Computer and Google can translate the whole Amazon store to English. That's possibly the easiest way to search for and buy ebooks.

Hi Denis
Thanks for that, but as you will see from the last post by Dufay some guy called Tony from the USA (gr8) can sort it out completley which is exactley what I would like to happen?
From reading mail I find that I am not the only one?
Perhaps Amazon or Kindle should sort this problem out?
Anyway thanks again, I shall use your method until I can resolve things

I use Google Translate for quite a lot. It's not perfect but my French isn't as good as it used to be. Too long since I spoke it regularly so I've forgotten some of the vocabulary.

Gerald, I'd offer one word of warning. Amazon monitors where books etc., are being downloaded to and if that's always a foreign country then they'll eventually notice and stop you doing it as you're breaching the terms and conditions and there are copyright issues too.

For ebooks, for instance, Amazon UK only has the right to sell to UK residents with UK addresses. Copyright prevents them selling to overseas buyers so they could get into trouble if they were doing so. Allowing you to buy ebooks from the UK site when you're a Spanish resident could be a serious matter for Amazon.

I'm not telling you not to do it or even advising you not to do it but just pointing out that trying to circumvent rules and regulations can sometimes have consequences. There was a recent report (not guaranteed to be accurate or even real - what is on the internet?) that someone had their Amazon account suspended temporarily for something similar. Now, I suspect if it was true then it must have been pretty serious and not the same as your situation, but if you're going to do it, at the very least don't mention it on an Amazon forum.

its a pity too, as the English books in the spanish site are rubbish!!!! And we have no availailty of the published spanish ones in English... arghhhh if I had know that I may not have bought it!!!!

Carla, when I search the Spanish site for ebooks in the English Language I get 1,431,154 results. Have you tried their advanced search page to narrow the results down?

Google will translate it to English if that's an issue for you.

I'm guessing the rubbish percentage is about the same as on and

That's one of the reasons I almost never recommend a book or post a review. My one and only recommendation attracted a barrage of abuse for recommending rubbish ;-)

CBRetriever says:
oh no - I wrote a review where I only gave a book 3 stars and the author wanted to know why I hadn't given it a 4 or 5 star review like everyone else had

I notice that no one else has reviewed the book since then

Hi Denis
Being new to this I have been trying to get a free book, which will give me some idea of how to proceed in future. However, I have already been informed by Amazon that I cannot do so they state "because I live in Spain the book is not available to me" So can you tell me how I can buy books for my Kindle Fire?
If I had known I would have had all this messing about I would not have bought one.

Denis Powell says:
There are very few ebooks on the UK site that aren't available from all the others in Europe, including France, Germany, Spain and Italy. If you live in Spain would it be a problem to buy it from the Spanish site?

If it's not for sale in Spain it will be for copyright reasons. It's just one of those things.

could you recommend a good Spanish site
