Ports for Kindle Fire HD 'Micro-HDMI (micro-D connector) port for high definition video output to televisions or A/V receivers'

So you will need a Micro hdmi cable.

With its wireless connection it should be possible to set a Kindle HD to transmit wirelessly to a TV just like a wireless Laptop. You will need a Wirelss PC to TV sytem if your TV is not already a "smart" one.

Think you would have a problem with this method as these wireless systems reuire you to download the soft ware to your PC, The silk browser on The Amazon Kindle Fire would not be supported for the software download.

Can not get any sound from my tvs when connecting kindle fire hd via hdmi lead

Denis Powell says:
That sounds like it might be a faulty cable or connection, but connect to your TV before turning your Fire on and turn your Fire off before disconnecting it as to connect "live" seems to have caused problems for some.

A restart usually solves the problem and may solve yours too.

@PAH: The HDMI cable connections are not huge and seldom perfect. It may be you need to "wiggle" your connection a little bit. If things don't improve possibly the cable or connection has a bit of fluff in it? Simply blow it out?
You can buy suitable cables for peanuts here on Amazon - 2M Premium Micro HDMI (Type D) to HDMI (Type A) High Speed Full HD 1080p, hdmi micro to hdmi 2M cable 1.4v, micro to hdmi cable for Amazon kindle HD, Microsoft Surface tablet, Mobile Phone, Cameras, other Tablets or device with Micro Port, GOLD Plated at that price buy a few and have some as spares around the house?
Check the GEAR / SETTINGS on the fire to see if anything strange has been set up on your HDMI settings? It's unlikely, but may have happened.
If all these fail try a reset of the FIRE.

If alll of the above fail try the HELP button top of the page and get Amazon to call you back for free. Good luck.

Back Porch says:
Do not buy a cheap cable. Chances are it will not fit at the micro end. Also wiggling these sort of plugs about is dangerous as you can damage the miniscule contacts pr even lift the socket from the PCB.

I initially bought 2 cheap cable one worked intermittently and the other just gives green and black stripes on the screen.

This is one time where I think it is worth spending a bit on a good cable. I got this 3m Belkin Belkin 3m Micro HDMI Cable

a 3m length means also you can sit with the KFHD at a comfortable distance from the TV

@BP: To be honest, unless you are paying serious money I'm not sure there are such things as "cheap cables". OK, 50 mtr for 2p is too cheap, but unless yo are buying aircraft grade connectivity ... just a view.
Obviously wiggling about is not using a 2 by 4, oxyacetylene blowtorch or swinging from it during rampant sex. Usually.

I've bought 1, 2, 3 and 5 meter cables all under 10 and all working perfectly - admittedly on a playbook which may have a far better micro HDMI port than the cheap rubbish on a FIRE but I would be surprised if it was that much better. The cable you linked is a D to D type, so I assume you fit a D2A adaptor on one end to convert it to normal A size. How good are those adaptors? Is adding yet another two connections worth it?

I must admit I tend to turn on and leave when using the PB. I can see some virtue in the longer cables but sometimes tidy is better :) CW.

When I connect my Kindle Fire to the HDMI port on the television, the screen is black with HDMI 1 showing, I take it I require to switch to HDMI 2, can you tell me how to do this,
Thanks John

There will be a button on your remote control.

It's probably the button you use when switching between tv and dvd. It should cycle between DTV / HDMI1, 2, 3/PC/Aux then back to DTV.

If you can't find it say the make of the TV and someone may be able to help.

Thanks I will try that, the TV is a Panasonic Plasma
Cheers John

Jpclarke says:
with my old pany tv I use the colour buttons on the remote to go from av1 and so forth, so I end up using the blu button to go to hdmi 1 and I just press the blue button again when it is on the hdmi 1 channel so it swithes to hdmi 2. simples !

Hi. If my tv only goes up to hdmi 1 , will it still play on my tv does anybody know?

In reply to an earlier post on 19 Jun 2013 15:24:42 BDT
Denis Powell says:
It should work with any HDMI capable TV. It only requires one socket. If you already have something connected to that I suggest getting a switching device that allows you to plug several devices into one external box that, itself, connects to the TV socket. If you don't want to do that you'll need to disconnect anything already being used before plugging in your Fire HD.

I bought a brand new kindle in Jan 2014. I bought a cable but the micro end does not fit this generation of kindle fire. Does anyone what type of connection I need??

In reply to an earlier post on 19 Jan 2014 09:35:03 GMT
DaveyH says:
If it's a new generation Kindle HD then that doesn't come with any way of connecting to the TV. Some people have used an app called Skifta to replicate the built in Miracast functionality of the HDX, but it is more limited than the HDX.

The New HD replaces the Kindle Fire, which was a more 'basic' model.
