Anyone found how to delete books added to kindle fire? While we are at it, is it possible to put books into a collection on Kindle fire? I had all my books in collections on my old kindle. Not sure I like the new version as much as I thought I would.

To remove content on Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD & Kindle Touch:

On the Home screen, press and hold the title you wish to remove
When a menu appears, select Remove from Device

I haven't got one to check, but my quick read of the manual suggests that the Fire doesn't support collections.

Worm's method deletes book from my Touch but title remains on the Kindle (taking little space) this means you can go to archive and redownload for free as book remains on your Amazon archive.

To delete completely from my Amazon archive I do that on my Manage my Kindle page but once deleted from there it would have to be rebought to read again.

I think the Fire works the same as a Kindle Touch in this case.

Ive deleted a book from my kindle fire through manage my kindle but the title still remains in my cloud. How do I get rid of that? do I just need to reset it?

Have your connected your Kindle Fire with WiFi since you deleted through Manage My Kindle.

The next time you connect with your Kindle Fire after deleting a book through your laptop your Kindle will get the message and after a while the book will delete itself.

I've had some books deleted on-line with the Manage your Kindle function that have been visible in the cloud for a few weeks now.
The Kindle Fire knows they have to be re-purchased to be viewed, but still leaves the thumbnails sat there.

How do you delete books from recommendations?

Denis Powell says:
To delete specific ebook recommendations go to "your name"'s Amazon at the top of this page then click "see all recomendations". You can mark them "Not interested". If you want to stop certain purchases being used as the basis for recommendations, from that page click on "Items you own" and you'll see the option to "Not use" for recommendations.

Not being able to put books into folders or collections on kindle fire is a pain its about time Amazon done something about this

Denise, it may not be a question of time but practicality. A Collection on an e-ink Kindle is very similar to a Word document. It's only a list of active links to the book files and doesn't contain the books themselves. It may, for all I know, be impossible at present to have such a document app built into the Android system.

You can, however, install one of several apps that do a similar thing for "cataloguing" purposes although if you open a book from it the Fire won't be able to remember the last page read.

Personally, I keep an Excel Spreadsheet on my Fire as I find that much more useful as it contains much more information about my books, including those not on the device. Once your library reaches a total of many hundreds or even thousands of books the Collections system isn't very useful, in my opinion.

How do I get to "home" as suggested to delete books from my kindle fire or how do I make a folder as suggested. My age 79 and I love my kindle fire

Denis Powell says:
To get to the Home page tap the icon that looks like a house.

If you're thinking of Collections then that's only possible on e-ink Kindles and Kindle for PC. There are Collections apps available from the App Store that work in a similar way but your Fire is unable to remember the last page read if you open the book from the app.

That's all you do. Delete it from one Kindle. If you had the book on 10 Kindles and you wanted it removed from every one of them you'd have to delete it from each device individually. Deleting from one won't delete from another.

and how you delete it from one device will depend on which device you have...
But a long hold on the book in the list of books might help.

How do I remove icons from deleted books?

In reply to an earlier post on 5 Aug 2013 08:12:26 BDT
Denis Powell says:
Kate, can you explain what you mean?

Are the icons on the Home screen, on the Device tab of Books, or on the Cloud tab of Books?

A long touch on most things will give you the option to remove it from the Device. You can only remove books entirely by going to Manage Your Kindle but then they're gone for good and should you wish, at any time, to read those books you'd have to buy them again.

I deleted books by 'remove from device' and on 'manage my kindle'. I want to remove all trace - the home screen and the cloud tab on books. The actual books have been removed, but it is leaving a lot of clutter that I don't want. How do I change this?

In reply to an earlier post on 7 Aug 2013 09:22:32 BDT
Denis Powell says:
You'll have to define "clutter".

I agree with Kate. It is quite annoying to see your kindle displaying many books one has read and deleted via 'Manage your Kindle' I would like to be able delete or simply put them into the archive.

Denis Powell says:
To delete anything from anywhere on a Fire you long touch the icon and select Remove from Device. To remove ebooks from the Cloud go to Manage Your Kindle and delete them there. To delete Apps and Games from the Cloud go to "Your Apps and Services".

If you've deleted books from the Device and Manage Your Kindle where are you saying them?
