The description appears to indicate this.

Or is it tied to the Fires?

S O says:
It was possible before, with the streaming package.

J. Ross says:
The only app in the android market was to manage your disk account, no live streaming

Stu P. says:
It was only possible before with iPad not Android. I can't see as Amazon owns Lovefilm, that they will relinquish the streaming ability to other Android tablets, at least initially. The new Kindle Fires are obviously the reason why this has not been possible before on Android, it's a key selling point.

J. Ross says:
That was my point. At least it is a start if there is now an app on android that streams LF then even if it is tied to the Fires, there is a possibility the guys at xda will produce a generic version.

Doesn't make sense though. I have an android tablet, a Samsung galaxy tab to be precise. I also have also just signed up to Netflix as they can stream on my tab. I am not going to buy a kindle just to be able to stream from lovefilm. I would however consider switching from Netflix to lovefilm IF there was an android app for streaming.

So amazon are losing a subscription without any chance of gaining a hardware sale.

Still hopefully they'll release an app once the hype of the kindle fire has died down. It's no good to me as it doesn't have expandable storage - I want stuff available when I'm out and about, and out of range of wifi and no mobile signal (go camping in Wales a lot)

I Think i might cancel my lovefilm subscription because of this and join netflix.

T. Jackson says:
There is no way that I will base my choice of tablet on whether it gets Lovefilm or not - I'll just cancel Lovefilm and probably not use Amazon because I resent clumsy attempts to manipulate what I buy.

T. Jackson says:
I got this from Lovefilm:

Unfortunately, the Watch Online service is not currently planned to be
used through the Android.

The good news is we have lots more in the pipeline yet to come! Your
suggestion about being able to watch movies via the Android is greatly
appreciated, but sadly this is not something that is on our roadmap just
at the moment.'

Guess I'll cancel then.

I'll probably leave Lovefilm due to this now. Will give it a go with the Sky Streaming service.

Short sighted Lovefilm/Amazon.

I'm off too, my wife will be pissed she watches loads of LF on her ipad... but im no going to carry on paying for the service hoping for something they 'can' do, but choose not to To promote their HW sales

Ipad Mini for daughter this christmas now instead of kindlefire too i guess. You have Lost the edge.

Hmmm i was hoping that now they can stream to android as shown by the fire announcement that they would release it for other android tablets. From the response t. Jackson got it now seems unlikely.

Looks like I'll be cancelling my lovefilm and move to netflix,i am not having a content provider trying to dictate my hardware choices by such unfair marketing strategies.

same here, if amazon refuses android users like me then it's their loss, i will cancel my lovefilm if i cannot stream it on my tablet.

Posted on 21 Nov 2012 20:42:11 GMT
Same here - I like lovefilm, but want to watch it on my android phone, and have no plans to buy a tablet; kindle fire hd or otherwise. Looks like I'll be joining many others in switching from lovefilm to netflix or similar.

In reply to an earlier post on 22 Nov 2012 20:21:30 GMT
I wrote to lovefilm about this and they said they are working on getting app for android users. Well, they better do it fast bec they will be losing many customers. My subscription is good til April and if there's still no app by then... there's always netflix and many others.

Just signed up for Netflix. I can use my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. I think Lovefilm is going to get the gooner.

I've been a long time Lovefilm subscriber but recently took on Netflix as a trial.

Streaming-wise Netflix is all we use now due to the greater cross-platform support - partner's AppleTV and iPad, my Nexus 7 and HTC Desire S.

The only thing keeping me going with LF is getting Blu-Ray discs through the post although that is losing it's attraction with more and more of the best and most recent content available for ad-hoc PPV rental through Sky BO/I-Tunes/Google Play.

Amazon - Fire - Lovefilm - crippled Android = Fine example of 'foot shooting'.

I'm Another long-term LoveFilm customer switching to Netflix solely due to the lack of LF movie streaming to Android (a recently-purchased Galaxy note 10.1 in my case). I've spend many hundred's of £s with Amazon this year, inc £200+ with them for christmas alone, and wish I hadn't in light of this. I certainly won't be using them for anything again until this issue is addressed.

Very short-sighted Amazon.
