I have Sony PRS 600 and have downloaded a book in to Kindle app on my Sony PC. It's there, clear and visible. Am I able to transfer this book to my Sony reader library? If so, how? I have paid for it!
Thanks in advance,
Ian.

Denis Powell says:
No, your Sony eReader can't read the format that Amazon books are in. Similarly, you can't read Sony ebooks on a Kindle because they're in epub format which Kindle e-readers can't read.

You have a non-transferrable license to read, but you can read Amazon books on any Kindle together with most tablets and computers.

Little Egret says:
If the Kindle book is unencrypted (no DRM) you can convert it to ePub format for a Sony, Nook or Kobo ereader.

Amazon has Simultaneous Device Usage: Unlimited in the Product Description for such.

http://convertfiles.com/ will do the conversion (you may have to rename .azw3 to .mobi first).

or you can download a free programme called Calibre which will convert most formats to one that you want.

Denis Powell says:
But if you were to use it for books with DRM you would be breaking Copyright Law.

But it is for personal use only.

Denis Powell says:
I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, just that if you suggest to someone that they should remove DRM you should point out that they're breaching Copyright law if they do so. Then they can make their own mind up whether they should do so or not.

Damaskcat says:
That doesn't matter under UK law - there isn't a personal use exemption.

Denis Powell says:
The "Personal Use Exemption" only applies to media that has no DRM. I think the phrase used in the amendment refers to "Technical Protection Method" and DRM is one.

That is very good... so when you break the law we know it is just you and not a company telling you what to do.
