Does anyone have any ideas of when Black Friday will be this year? Hopefully it will be better than last year!

What's "Black Friday?" It sounds kind of gloomy....

Frenchie says:
What is Black Friday exactly? even though I have been here for quite a few years, I have never really paid attention. I thought it was the day the Stock Exchange went bersek and loads of people lost money, but reading your post, it cannot be that. (sorry for the appalling ignorance, should read newspapers more )..

Emily A. says:
It's the "daily deals" but it goes on for a week and you get really good deals! (Even though last year was more like an ice watch fest)

If it's the black Friday in America it is the Friday after thanksgiving in November. Usually around the 3rd Friday of the month - different date each year

Amazon "did" Black Friday last year (UK) nor sure re previous year? Offers/deals are available for approximately a few days or a week.
Lots of "deals covering just about everything" It's in late November (obviously a Friday) myth and folklore? yet, apparently it's the week/period when people tend to spend less... hence, deals to enhance spending.
Phew:)

It will be Friday 29th November

Wow. Are you sure?

StarWarsFan says:
They have a week of deals. This is the fourth year they will have done it in UK. It runs from Monday to Sunday, and yes Black Friday is 29th. This is worked out by knowing when Thanksgiving is. Whilst our deals haven't quite caught up with Amazon.com yet, they have improved each year. This doesn't stop people complaining that they're all rubbish and Amazon aren't giving away exactly what they want! Much like people who vote comments as unhelpful when conveying factual information then :)

I do enjoy Black Friday!! It's been my shopping place for Christmas presents for the last 2 years. As said before - they don't have quite the range that the .com store has but they still do some pretty good deals!!

The American Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday of November, so Black Friday is always the day after that. Hope that helps.

Also if you live in the US, many shops open their doors at 6am with deals for that day only until they're gone so the queues outside will be massive. People run blindly and madly from shop to shop to get all the specials before it's even 8am.

Tapples says:
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving (4th Thursday of November), which officially starts the Christmas shopping period in the US. The combination of discounts offered by retailers and the number of people that start shopping for Christmas early (in US terms), it's the first day that the retailers typically "go into the black," or turn a profit in the financial year. Hence the term Black Friday, which has really become famous for the deals offered to get more shoppers out early in the season.

BLACK FRIDAY COUNTDOWN HAS BEEN OPERATING ALL WEEK

I did put a message on earlier this week but no one added anything to it.

There is now only ONE DAY AND EIGHT HOURS FOR YOU TO BUY THINGS. You have missed about 5 days if you have not noticed the ad at top right of this page
