This lovely post from williewit probably went unnoticed by most folks
here because it was buried in a thread. But it made me think that perhaps we could have a separate thread devoted to "Life is Just Ace", a bit of a quiet spot where folks could post things like willie's or a nice bit from a newspaper article about something positive or just a line or two about an observed random act/whatever that shows the positive side of this world we live in. Who knows, maybe an author or two that lurks around here will find inspiration for a story. Although of course conflict, reversals and tension will have to be inserted along with the final feel good ending.

No adverts.
Not even thinly disguised adverts.
No making fun of somebody else's post.
Good natured fun welcome, snarky humor not so much.

I know this doesn't necessarily have much to do with Kindles per se, but since this is the forum I wander to most frequently (it can be pretty entertaining here) I thought it was worth putting the idea out there.

Anyway, here's what williewit wrote.

I saw the most beautiful thing today...
I was walking past a completely frozen up perspex walled phone box today when i noticed a small flicker of movement within .... i peered through the ice to see a small bird trapped inside , i opened the door and it flew away .
I so wish you could have seen that .
it made me think of Tom Waits..
`Theres a hummingbird trapped in a closed down shoe store `

.......sometimes life is just ace.

That's a lovely story.

I had a lovely cuddle with my 8 month old great-nephew today. His parents live hundreds of miles away so it's only the second time I've seen him.

Aw, this is a great thread!

I saw a child's small bear drop into a puddle on High Street Kensington... and a businessman dodge traffic to pick it up and return it. Lovely moment.

A few weeks ago i was told this story by a very dear old friend , her ex-husbands wife is dying of motor -neurone desease , a folk band were playing one night at the local theatre - she had always loved this band and her being gravely ill made it impossible for her to attend the show . In an attempt to make up for this disappointment her husband phoned the theatre and asked if they could autograph a programme for her and have it posted to her .
later that same day the band appeared on their doorstep and proceeded to perform their whole show for her in her bedroom .

Lovely story, willie. I have found that musicians are often incredibly sharing sorts of people. They know what music means to themselves and how that all just multiplies a hundred fold when it is shared with others.

bumping this because it is a 'warm fuzzy' post instead of the usual cold spiky ones.

Not exactly an example of life being ace but having been taken into hospital by ambulance earlier today and threatened with emergency surgery further investigations and a bit of prodding and poking meant my 84 yr old grandad has been temporarily patched up and will be at home for Christmas, although he will have to go back in the new year. So relieved it was less serious than they thought.

Tomcat. Glad it was not too bad in the end. Enjoy Christmas with your grand-dad.

Mine is not as grand as the ones above, but:

My daughter just made me some Peppermint Tea and gave me some of her cinnamon biscuits she just baked for Christmas.

I feel a chest infection coming on. Everyone at work is coughing, sneezing....

Ahhh yes.... Mmmmm.... Yummy

What a lovely thread. I had a lovely moment this afternoon - my two sons (1 and 3) sharing a moment cuddled up and giggling on the sofa whilst watching something silly on the TV. It's the first time they have interacted on the same level and it was beautiful.

This is my first ever post - i think this is the best thread ever and I have a lovely day to share - I am off work and trying to get the house sorted for santa because I have to have an op on Thurs with a possible (not if I can help it) overnight. My 14yr old helped with everything - especially his lively 3 yr old brother and even made me sit down while he made me lunch. Lifted my spirits and eased my worries about how everyone would cope on xmas eve if i have to stay in

I love this thread .. apart from bread being kicked into snow!
I work in a community hospital, with a stroke rehabilitation unit attached. One of my colleagues won the annual raffle yesterday - and promptly donated the trolley load of Christmas goodies back to the stroke unit for residents, visitors and staff to enjoy.

Not sure how heart-warming this is but...
Every year when I arrive at my parents' house for Christmas, I have to have a present in mind for my dad to buy my mum. He has no clue and some years when I have not intervened, has given her nothing!
When I arrived to day, he proudly asked me to go shopping with him to buy her some, and I quote " slightly dangly but not too dangly pearl earrings that will look pretty with her pearl necklace." Apparently he bought her the pearl necklace when she was 21 on their 4th wedding anniversary (I know, scarily young to be that married but it was a different time I guess.)

Honestly, I could have cried! She will be gobsmacked on Christmas day, mostly because he chose them himself. She can always tell when I have had a hand in it.

I had dinner this evening with four generations of my family.

Mother, self, children and grand-children (technically never ate dinner but had bottles). Partners were present and seating was fought for!

Something I'd wish everyone would be able to do!

It snowed all night and my good girls still gave me 6 eggs this morning. Therefore the family will be in for the traditional Tiramisu Angel, Food Cake and Cheesecake for Christmas. I am the pudding Queen!

I am sat at my desk at work, customers have all closed for the season, just manning the phones for the odd workaholic, my husband is home with our three grandchildren, my daughter-in-law is collecting my turkey, my daughter is fighting her way through supermarkets doing my Xmasfood shop, and my Kindle is open (reading McCoy: A Racing Post Celebration)
There will be a glass of wine for me when I get home,

Life IS Truely Nice :)
