Over three successive Augusts, and distracted by scandals and colourful deaths, he drifts in unlikely directions while he tries to decide whether June can be trusted or his marriage has finally fallen apart.

Olivia, Mourning (The Olivia Series Book 1) - 408 pp
Olivia wants the 80 acres in far off Michigan that her father's will left to whichever of his offspring claims the land. As Olivia says, "I'm sprung off him just as much as Avis or Tobey." The problem: she's 17, female, and it's 1841. Mourning Free, Olivia's trusted childhood friend, knows how to run a farm and is also sorely in need of a new start in life. The problem: though born in a free state, he's the orphaned son of runaway slaves and the slave catchers who patrol the north hunting fugitives are not particular about who they take back south with them. Not without qualms, they set off together. All goes well, despite the drudgery of survival in an isolated log cabin. Incapable of acknowledging her feelings for Mourning, Olivia thinks her biggest problem is her unrequited romantic interest in their young neighbour. Until her world falls apart. Strong-willed, vulnerable, and compassionate, Olivia is a compelling protagonist on a journey to find a way to do the right thing in a world in which so much is wrong.

SWORD OF TULKAR
SWORD OF TULKAR AND OTHER WRITINGS ON ANCIENT BRITAIN AND IRELAND is a collection of two short stories and 10 poems set in the long gone era of the Ancestors.
In SWORD OF TULKAR, a young woman at the end of the British Bronze Age finds her village burned by new invaders, the Horseheads. She is befriended by the mysterious smith, Tulkar, who lives in a remote cave with his large family, a hoard of metal objects--and the half buried remains of the old Matriarch of his people. He makes a sword for girl, Ardagh, then vanishes, leaving her alone to find her way in a land of burial cairns and stone circles, of spirits and ancestors. And one comes to her aid--the spirit of old Ourar, buried in the smith's cave. With her spirit guardian guiding her, Ardagh learned both sword-arts and courage, and eventually confronts the leader of the Horsehead clan--the Queen Rianona with her sword of the new, cold star-metal...iron.

I would email Amazon Customer services, Mar, and tell them what happened. I've just looked and it clearly is showing up as a free book to me as well.

The freebie books can often fluctuate between being at their usual price and being free during the hourly updates but they should not show up as being free and then charge you after you have gone and clicked on it, so there is a fault there, and Amazon should put it right. Don't forget though to tell them that you still want the book but only as a free one, as they will probably just reimburse you and then cancel the transaction otherwise, and then you will end up bookless...x

Thank you suzysunshine7, I have just emailed Amazon Customer services as the book is still showing free. I bought it for the £1.99 last night & started it, even though I have nearly 1,000 others on my Kindle to read! I wanted to get into something light for a change. Just loving it so far - couldn't put it down even at 2am Thank you again for your kind help & I will post Amazon response here x

UPDATE @ 17.33
Amazon have replied thanking me for bringing this matter to their attention. Unfortunately they will have to withdraw this book for the moment until the correct price is verified. Meanwhile they have credited my account with £1.99 I am very happy with the response & hope the book will be on sale free or otherwise shortly for the author's sake.
